Testors Italeri 1/35 M47 Patton WIP

Late to the party, but WOW. That’s great. Thanks for taking us along on the journey.

While I agree they should probably be addressed, I would wait til you do the base and blend it all together.

Overall I think the build looks great and shows the girl can still shine.

Excellent job stik, looks fantastic!

@Tank_1812 & @metalhead85 , thank you much guys!

Ryan, I do agree that this old girl can sure shine. Italeri did a mighty fine job on this kit.

nice work, like the transmission added details too, so is this posted Stateside or Germany, didn’t Elvis serve on these? I know Arnie did, but with his Austrian Countrymen. He owns his own example, well you would in his position, wouldn’t you.

Thank you Grouser. This particular tank was serving in Germany, in the 5th Infantry Division’s Tank Battalion during the mid 50’s. Elvis crewed on M48A1s with 3rd Armored Division a few years later.

Hey Stik…bringing this thread back to life to let you know I’m working the colorful Portuguese M-47 from the 1978 timeframe.

Very nice! Good to see another M47 Patton on here! That Portuguese camo scheme looks very attractive. I’ll definitely be watching this build project!

Update on the Portuguese M-47. Basic camo has been applied and considered complete. Application of decals then painting of accessories next.

I tell ya, the Italeri M47 is a diamond in the rough, and you are making this one shine up so nicely!

TY! It’s a kit I always keep on hand. The countries that used this vehicle present tons of markings, and camo, with possibilities that cover almost 6 decades.

Even with Takom’s release, and if I had to chose, I would choose the Testors/Italeri kit (or maybe I’m just a Testors M-47 junkie). For some odd reason, the Takom’s kit kinda has some fiddly fit and measurment issues, IMHO.

Damn… now I wanna break out mine too…

Having read your comment on the versatility of the Testors kit, I looked at the boxes I have of M-47 parts. I figured just in parts alone, I have enough to build 2 maybe 3 complete kits, and a 4th boxed kit beside the parts.

Let 'er rip! Nothing looks more majestic, spartan, with a bulky, tough guy look, than a well-built M-47 kit!

With what I have on my “to-do”-shelf??
No… I will have to be patient. Need to finish a couple more builds…

Ahhhhhhhh man, jump in the water, it’s great! I have 3 builds I’m working on at the same time as with this Portuguese M-47. You can dooooooooo it!

Only 3?
Phah… triple that…

My kit bashing conversion to represent a Spanish M47E2. I used Takom’s M47 E/M chassis, and Testor’s turret (being more accurate in my opinion). I also mounted a turned metal barrel 105mm. Also applied casting letters, numbers and company logo to turret.

For the basic M47, the Testors/Italeri kit is more than adequate. But if one wants to do the modernized variant, I’d go with Takom, if only for the lack of need to do the surgery for the engine deck and main gun.
