I’ve got kits from both makers as I want to do a hybridized kit (not version) borrowing parts from each

Two of them?! And does the solid OD one have a 120mm main gun?

Nope…the gun is a 105mm. I bought it a few years ago, and the packaging had 105mm on it. Comparing to Spanish pics and their use of the 105mm, I’m satisfied it is a 105mm. I think it’s an Orange Hobby gun, but I can’t swear to that. In the meantime, will be tackling equipment for painting.

I was just wondering. The shape of the bore evacuator looks closer to that of the 120mm gun than that of any 105mm guns.

In the late 70’s the Army did a feasibility study on using fiberglass to make a bore evacuator for the 105mm gun. The intent was to save on weight and cost. Apparently it worked. The bore evacuator on the M1A1 and later Abrams is composite.

My Spanish M47E2 supposedly is from around 1985…with markings that were originally used on a vehicle that had the 90mm gun, or so I’ve been told. Since the Spanish took some 90mm vehicles within their inventory, to experiment with the 105mm gun, I’ve followed suit in duplicating the same to what little information is available.

Few more examples of the 105mm::
