Clash of Steel 1:100
Vallejo acrylics
HQ72 resin base
Scalefiend M2 HBMB
Vignette entitled “Hell’s coming with me!”. This is an alternative history vignette for June 1945: Hitler is dead, the Reich did not surrender, and the Allies have surround Berlin and are hunting the remnants of a Maus troop.
About 40 hours of total work.

Very kind of you. My first finish in decades. The scale was fun, the kit had few pieces but is well molded, so I could focus on the finish and storytelling.

Excellent rendition, especially for the scale. I like the various tones of Olive Drab you’ve achieved. Nice detail. A moody setting - you certainly accomplished your goal.

Thank you, I had wonderful advice form my local AMPS-ATL team, and from a master- Tetsuro Horikawa. I am now trying the acrylic/soap/water for the running gear.
Show next month at the US Army Armor & Cavalry Collection!

I used the Vallejo Faded Olive Green pigment as a dust, and brushed it to get “layers”.

Very effective. Extremely convincing.

Don’t forget to pick up a t-shirt when you are there!!

I think the “hide and seek champion” shirt is more fun.

That would be hilarious, and a great vignette! I don’t think the Armor & Cavalry Heritage Foundation has that. Hmm ….
Is it retailed somewhere?

I am wearing THAT shirt right now!

It was a shirt campaign run by Nicholas Moran, aka The Chieftain, sold through Everpress; the campaign is over, but he’s rerun campaigns for some of his other shirts, so that one may return as well.

Final pics
- GI Joe hand-lettered the sign when he got there!
- Adjusted the position in the intersection a bit for presentation. The driver really had to crab this about.
I recently acquired the Clash of Steel T-29, T-30, & T-34 kit. It has all three complete. With minor differences in the hull deck, gun, and turret.
Closing out this project.

Ted that is a great scene! Love the dusty look of the giant T-28. The setting looks great as well with the cobblestones and gutter drains. Excellent!

Most kind, Richard. I think I said it before: I had a lot of help . My local band of AMPS friends really helped me resume modeling after a 35-year hiatus.
This was my first finished build. I had started an M18, but I needed something on small canvas, but with space for big ideas.
Pics like those of your M4(105) provide a lot of inspiration as I go forward.
Thank you!

Thanks again Ted!
Dragon makes the T-28 in 1/35th scale as you probably know. It’s a big kit with a big price. I saw some on eBay and other sites going for $120 and up.

I saw a finished one at a model show we held in the Collection’s “Tankodrome” in November. It was an odd-looking somehow, and I’m aware there’s some accuracy issues. The funny thing was that the table was directly behind the real T28, and many people turned around and looked, then turned back to the model.
I’ve seen one kit advertised at $100! Meanwhile a friend from Taiwan who did most of the interior restoration for the Collection hinted that T____ is developing a new 1/35 kit! I’ve got an Abrams CATTB, a T29/T30/T34 trio, and a Wiesel (1/16) to build out, so I will tamp my impatience!
Thanks!

I’ve seen many tanks and Afvs at museums but never that T- 28 monster.
There’s an armor museum here on Long Island I got to once in a while- it’s a great place, but nothing that big.
