That’s an interesting idea and it would not be too out of place. You don’t see too much civilian/city infrastructure in the game but from what you do it’s just a slightly futuristic style or the same as what we have now.
Quick little update: here is what the new camo looks like on the gun and I have tried to do a burn effect on the muzzle as it is present in the game.
l
Still, a lot of details to paint but I like this colour a lot more. As you can see there was a lot more paint bleed under the masks on this one and the paint has a texture unlike the mech. I am not sure honestly why I got a crappy result but I will just roll with it.
Next up gun details!
Well I think it looks pretty damn good- and the burn effect on the end is a great touch to round it off. What masking tape where you using on it? I find Tamiya’s white panel line tape is not as prone to paint bleed as their regular tape.
The regular tape
I realized I have not updated much in a while. I have had two major hangups that I am pushing past now.
- After using a lot of decals from F18 and other aircraft I realized that some decals are just too specific and I need some custom ones for the mech as well as my upcoming project. So I learned Inkscape and made some SVG files and got them printed by an American company. The issue is, due to the postal strike I will not be seeing them anytime soon.
Most of the custom decals will be going on the gun but here it is without the decals. The sight on top will get a carbon fiber wrap and some cool sight lenses once the decals are done.

Here are the decals and what the gun will kinda look like with them on:
Issue number 2 is the really bad one. Since there were going to be lots of little decals on this thing I decided to apply gloss varnish. I used what was left of my old VMS gloss and boy was that a mistake. That thing was too old and started spraying really weirdly. Even with retarder airbrush thinner it sprayed horribly and even left a white grainy residue where it sprayed for further than like 7 cm. It also left an orange peel texture in plenty of spots.
I added some braided rope with other wire where the 3D print was missing and also redesigned the rocket pods to be accurate to the game:
Here is the model so far:
I plan to maybe mess with the EYE as this is what it looks like without the shrouds that I added. I thought that since this would be an ‘action’ scene I wanted his eye half closed like in the game during combat but here is what it looked like before:
Let me know which EYE you guys prefer!
I am still in the process of painting the details, especially the chassis/metallic parts
I want to do something special for the thrusters in the back. The insides will be like the eye blue glow, the same as the games.
But I would love suggestions and examples.
Thanks!
You have really thought through so much of this and it shows in how it is shaping up. I think the partially closed up eye looks more menacing than the open one.
Thank you for the input!
I like the half closed eye as well but will it translate as that in this scale?
Wow, the color scheme really looks awesome for such a small mech. Did you buy the 3D print from ETSY? If so, I saw the seller(s).
The decals really add a nice visual touch to the Titan. Really an excellent job…makes me want to buy one of my own.
How did you paint yours?
I think the wider aqua eye makes it look better, but that choice is up to you.
I ended up brightening up the ye a bit and it does POP a bit more but it’s still not as bright for sure. If you know what you are looking at then it looks good but for anybody who doesn’t it definitely seems a bit off.
Hello everyone, long time no see but life always gets in the way.
I have been working on the figures and a little debris for the base but honestly not too much progress. Here are the figures which are approximately 1/56 scale I think, honestly don’t remember anymore.
Painted this one first:
I am considering putting clear blue flames coming off his jet pack as this figure is in the process of jumping.
Painted this one second and honestly didn’t like the paint scheme as much but was too lazy to fix it.
Both of these will be getting a flat varnish a a bit of a wash so they should look better but this is what I have for now. Once they are done I will just have to work on the base and wait for the decals to get here.
Thanks!
You have really painted them so well for such a small scale- both are impressive in terms of the detail you have brought out on them. Personally I think the color schemes look great- plenty of interesting colors and well observed highlighting and shadowing- both should make a fine compliment to the mech.
Thank you!
I got my custom decals and was very happy with them. Crisp, thin sheet though very fragile. I got them applied to the models and flat-coated everything. I can Finally get to weathering!
Cheers!
They were well worth the wait!
Somehow I missed this and what great little treat this morning. Well done so far.
Thank you!
Got the washes done on everything and once they dry it’s on to some oils!
Here is the gun, I also finished the sight on it using a holographic film with some UV resin on top as glass:
The washes did enhance the figures a bit, I do pan to add some dust on them:
I also did a bit of work and started out on the paint for the base. These are just the blocking in of colours but so far so good!
And lastly the mech itself. After adding in the chrome for the hydraulics, and gluing on the lenses and the Lights i finished it off with a wash as well. Pretty happy with the progress so far. Next is some oils and chipping!
Cheers!
I can see the more gritty and dirty tones developing here- it should tie all the elements in to the base well. The holographic film is a neat idea for the sight!
That cracked roadway is amazing, well done !
