After some life delays but back to gluing plastic.

They do have a strange shape. I could see a sci-fi modeler using those bits to make a space craft/shuttle.

That is a neat looking vehicle and I have wanted one since it was announced.
MinArt just released a flat bed truck with a flak on the bed platform. It is absolutely perfect for my needs and I intend to purchase one.
However, I already have an Airfix Austin K2/Y ambulance on order for this campaign. It will be good experience to paint an interior and a Caunter scheme. I went with Airfix because I have no intention to display the engine or interior.

Airfix Austin K2/Y Ambulance
My team spirit arrived. Yay. Starting picture.
Give me a week to finish Unfinished Business and USSR, then I can work on this thing.
Still need a stupid trailer for Got Hitched. Gah. Totally forgot to order that.
This is my first Airfix model in, like, forever. Looks pretty okay in the box. Definitely not Gecko. I think Gecko is secret squirrel MiniArt. This is more like Tamiya.

Comparison of the rear compartment.
Lenght is a bit extended on the danish vehicle, with a bumper added. Fenders look different too.

Seems to be quite a lot of differences. The whole rear compartment is different, top one appearing to be an ‘all in one’ compartment that sits lower at the rear, where the lower pic seems to indicate a slimmer chassis section with a floor higher and an upper open tray type configuration. That is why the rear and fenders are so different.
Then the under door plate is bolted in different places, different hinges, etc. Even the front bonnet (hood) has different fenders.

My dad was a Marine in WW2. He was in Marine air, stationed at MCAS Cherry Point, North Carolina. He repaired aircraft radios & radars for a group that was training crews for the invasion of Japan. He had quite a few stories to tell of his service but the one that applies here came from the time they were demobbing in 1946. With few aircraft flying he was given odd jobs such as running the motor pool. He did everything there from greasing the base commanders car to working on big cats.
About 1960 he wanted a vehicle to drive in the California deserts to further his hobby of rockhounding. He went out to the Marine surplus sales depot at Yermo, CA looking for a command car, his favorite from working in the motor pool. He reckoned it would be big enough to haul the family and plenty of rocks.
Sadly for him, command cars were long gone by then but he did drag home a $100.00 Korean War vintage M38 Jeep which served our family for many years.
Pop is gone now but I thought I would build a command car in miniature and here is the start of it.
