Tug of War: Lindberg Diesel to Assurance Class

Assembling the capstan. I’m using a simplification of a technique for larger scale wood sailing ship models. I thought of the file down a round peg idea and even had a piece of sprue ready but decided I wanted to capture the ridges on the drum.

Gluing tiny bits of card onto blocks to make ready-use lockers my fingers are totally covered in glue. Good thing it wasn’t CA! :slight_smile:

The small bundle of 1/16" dowels for the masts arrived. Think they sent them in a big enough box? :smiley:

Most of the detail is on and the first coat of paint on the awkward spots.

Now it looks more like a funnel, less like a hi-liter.

Sabotage? The dockyard reports one Oerlikon badly damaged and the other vanished without a trace. Rush orders have been submitted for the manufacture of replacements.

The hastily completed replacement 20mms were quickly installed before some bureaucrat swapped them for junky Holman Projectors.

I used two ex-servo motors in a 19” LCT from dead servos . AliExpress have some small 3A speed controllers that can take 8.4v. Using these on my current builds.
