Unfinished Business 2023

Interesting camo design. I really like it Radek.

Well, “normal” Panthers were seen in similar patterns, so why not these?
Looks good anyway.

I love  that Camo on the Jagdpanther. I got a Tamiya one I plan on starting soon. I think I will try it.:+1:

Beautiful camo, Radek. Quite plausible camo :slightly_smiling_face:

Got to spend some quality time with my airbrush today. Laid down camo on the Renault FT:

I’ve spent the last few weeks avoiding my airbrush, trying to figure out why my painting efforts all fail so bad, and seeking new ways to attack the problem. Eventually, I decided my Panzer IV E was so awful I may as well throw a Hail Mary and see what happens. It’s not like I can ruin it worse.

First, I masked the running gear, markings, and tools because they look kinda, sorta okay. My first idea was to mask with cotton so as to force a diffused spray border. That was really messy so cardboard and Tamiya Tape must suffice. The danger is that any spray coming close to a piece of tape will leave an ugly, hard border. Blue-Tac was another option but that can also get really messy.

This looks way much better. It needs a new round of pin washes and tints and stuff, but the hideous chipping is (mostly) gone. I wanted to maintain a darker, overall shade of Panzer Dunkelgrau but better light than ruined. A wash of black may get me where I want to go.

In the process of doing all this, the horns that hold the tow cables broke off the tail plate. Those were replaced by wire and Milliput. In the future, that probably needs doing right from the start. Those dumb things always break.

Ok, I will call my Jagdpanther done.
For weathering I planned playing with some ready to use oil washes from Modellers World supported by their pigments (those guys make really great products) and also some homemande washes from oil paints. I made some chipping with acrylics.
I’m not particularily happy with achieved results, let’s say (using infamous quote of deputy chief engineer Dyatlov from Chernobyl tv series) - not great, not terrible.

So here it is - a total scifi Jagdpanther somewhere … sometime

Thanks again for good time, good luck for all of you who haven’t finished submissions yet and see you in next campaign

Cheers,
Radek

Anybody else already looking for subjects for a/the UB2024-campaign?
I will go softskin on that one; 2 Hummers, a Mutt and a Schwimmwagen are the nominees…

Great to see you finish Radek. It looks fantastic.

I have two ‘unfinished kits’ underway at the moment. The official build for this campaign, the Renault FT, has decals and flat coat down. Some weathering started last night.

Just wondering… if one doesn’t finish the UB2023-campaign, is the project to be finished then ok to use in the UB2024-campaign?

Well, if it is not finished in 2023, then I guess so!

It depends on who runs the campaign.

Hi Ron, yes, I believe you can finish in the 2024 campaign, but obviously only get the medal in one of them. :+1:t2::slightly_smiling_face:

I have enough unfinished projects for the next many years :sweat_smile:

Got mine done a good while ago. At least for this campaign. Next are already in the “go”-position for the '24-edition.
It was just a question on technicalities.
