And the left side of the turret. I should have cut the film on the upper-right corner of the Maltese cross as it should be tucked up under the smoke launcher guard rail. sigh
And now the right side of the turret and the license plate on the rear of the hull.
Just 2 more decals left and on to the final assembly. Just noticed I haven’t painted the convoy light! Bugger!
There’s lots of excellent chipping work going on with the paint Doug, I like the contrast in the picture. That may be just a dust wash or filter away from looking fantastic.
Great work guys. I have been away for a month and for some reason I could not log into Armorama on my ipad whilst I was away, which is why I have not checked in earlier.
@Gary_Kato Gary, nice recovery after the decal issue. The Leo looks great. If I may I make one suggestion, the rear lights are half orange and half red on the Leopard (and most German designed vehicles). Also the fitting next to it has a red centre:
Adding the reds would make the detail pop a bit more.
@Damraska . Doug, I think you are being harsh on yourself. As the other guys said, you have a good place to start a bit more detail specific weathering.
A very thin wash (Filter) would also help shift the shade. Moisten the panel first, then add a very, very thinned colour in places and let it flow into the moistened area. You may need to use a clean wet brush to tease it out a bit to stop a tide mark from forming. The idea is not to add a single wash layer over the whole panel, but subtly shift some parts without having a sharp definition where it was done and where it wasn’t.
If you do some dark black-brown pin washes around the details, it would help break up and define the sections better.
I have finished my walker. Quite a relief - cannot even remember how old it was when it went to the unfinished pile.
Very satisfied with the overall result. Only issue was that to allow the turret to turn I had to add a socket magnet. Now it works perfectly and the gun just clears the legs when turning the turret.
Well done Jesper, looks like a neat build & pretty well detailed as well. Really like the finished paint scheme too, it looks good on the bare metal backing
My jagdpanther got some attention recently. As kit is old, details not so good and decals yellowed I went total scifi with it.
Using hataka orange series paints I decided to go a fictional late war splinter 3-color camo ( totally random). To spice up a little bit I went with hull red primer & dunkelgrau on gun.
Decals are probably from Tamiya’s .
