Updated Dragon Shermans available now

I looked on here to see if anyone had posted this already and I found nothing. Andy of AHHQ released a video 2 weeks ago that he’s become a supplier of Dragon kits. Dragon is re-releasing a lot of their old stuff, German and Allied and included are their old Sherman tank kits with updated parts. some 3D printed brush guards and EECs.

I’m exited that they’ve re-released their figure sets too. Anyways, here’s the video in case you guys are interested…

Interesting. I can ask Andy about these when I see him this week. His company and the one I work for are partnering up.

I might order one of these just for fun, I still have 5-6 of the original release Dragon Shermans in the stash…I’m looking forward to reading reviews of these…

I’m curious about that M4A1 D-Day Normandy release (#6701) they are using the original box art from the 1/72 release and I think the kit inside is the really old 6048 release that dates back to the 1990s. I’m curious if it’s the same upper hull from the 1990s releases because that hull had some dimensional issues it was too wide or something. I’ll have to go back and read the old Perth site to get a refresher on this kit…I’m still interested in getting one of those, it’s been over two decades since I last built one…Nostalgia…

Maybe of interest, previous related thread updated-dragon-plastic-model-kits-are-here

If one wants several kits, it’s probably less expensive to order 4 or more via Cyber-Hobby with free shipping if waiting a few months is acceptable. Cyber-Hobby has been $12 to $20 per kit less on the Dragon 1/35 AFV kits in my experience than Andy’s new offerings. However, Andy has significantly faster shipping for a reasonable cost.

Sold off all 14 of my Dragon Shermans after I bought my first Tasca \ Asuka. Nothing but Asuka and RFM from then on. Glorious building kits. Perfection.
There was something always off on the fit of the FDA on every single Dragon Sherman I built. Every one needed Evergreen and Bondo. I got the distinct feeling it wasn’t me.

It does seem a premium price for a model that is not premium anymore. I remember lots of complaints about finer details missing and the usual instruction issues.

Dragon has a long standing problem with version control. Their model designers will put out a problem part in Kit 1, provide a corrected part in Kit 2, forget they fixed the problem for Kit 3, create a second corrected part for Kit 4, then include all three versions of the part in Kit 5, but reference the wrong part number in the instructions. I find this amusing.

I have lots of old Dragon models in the stockpile and look forward to acquiring more when these go on sale. :slightly_smiling_face:
