At last a bit more progress,
Work is continueing on the aircraft to go on the flightdeck.
One side of the mounts for the saftey nets done.
The other side started on and the propellers fitted.
Before the support struts go on the overside boats on davits and booms will be fitted.
More soon.

It is disconcerting to see Langley flipper over like that, but I like the progress! Those aircraft are going to look great aboard too.

Thank you for your kind comment Tim, it is a little weird spending so much time with the ship upside down, but I this makes fitting the under filightdeck brass so much easier. The aircraft I hope will set the Carrier off very well.
Cheers, Si
A bit more slow progress, the saftey nets going on.
It has been interesting to say the least using the Eduard mounts for the nets on the trumpter structure.
I hope to get a few more sections on over the weekend.

At last, the safety nets done, it has been a bit of a trial making the Eduard and Trumpeter parts work together.
The painting and decaling on the aicraft to go on deck done.
So far I havenât found any good photographs of the Langley with aircraft ranged on deck.So I am not sure what is right. a test run I tried this.
I may tighten it up a bit to give the torpedo bombers a bit longer run.
A few bits and peices of the fittings to go on the side of the ship, seaboats on davits, boat and gangway booms.
more soon.
Cheers,
Si

haha, yep, sounds like a Trumpeter build to me Si
I donât think they knew either-was all trial and error back then and most on-lookers wonât know what was right or wrong eitherâŚ
Looking good all the same, mate.

Thanks Russ,
It is odd with Trumpy, some of their ships are pretty good, The Didos look pretty good, yet there is the Tribal and the dodgy main turrets on the 350 Hood to name a couple of things, The Buckley, the C class cruisers and quite a few others donât seem to have major issues.
You have the right of it, and they were at this time somehat behind the Royal Navy and the Imperial Japanese Navy when it came to Carriers, Mind it didnât take the U.S. Navy long to catch up and overtake the rest the world.
Unless I stumble accross something before I get to fixing the Aircraft down I think I will stick to that layout.

So true about Trumpeter, Si⌠Letâs not even mention the hull shape of some of their efforts, especially the USN early cvâs, which are more akin to a bathtubâŚ
If Iâd suggest anything about the planes is that theyâd be ranged a lot more closely together⌠For fixing them down maybe use a small drop of white PVA glue so that if a good photo does turn up, it will be easy to pry them off and reposition them later on?

Letâs not.
Tightening up the group of the aircraft, good point, give the Torpedo bombers a longer run.
The deck has been sealed with a couple of mist coats of matt varnish, so a tiny drop of water could loosen the PVA to lessen the chance of damage to the etched undercarriage legs. it will also depend on how wrong my position is.

Hi Frenchy,
Thank you for posting the photos, that certainly gives me a lot to work from when I get to fixing the aircraft down.

A bit more progress, was away for a little while. Nearly ready to add the aircraft and commission her, the rigging for the sea-boats davits and the odd touch up here and there need to be done. I have added the wind breaks and a few other final bits and pieces.
I hope to commission the Langley by the end of this month.

Very close to commissioning, but I could with a few more figures to go on deck, and maybe slip a few on the hanger deck. The aircraft on deck have been fixed down, as I have he elevator lowered I used a pick & mix approach to the very helpful photos Frenchy posted.
A few figures adapted from what I had,
I modified the seaboat davits, so they were more turned out as they appear in photographs of the vessel.
When I have acquired the required figures and a few other bits and pieces. I should be able to get the job done.
Cheers,
Si

Very nice Si⌠Havenât seen you put figures on your ships before: this must a new thing

Thanks Russ,
Not exactly new, I donât generally put figures on a model unless it is going on a seascape, and I havenât done that in a long time. It is about time I had another go at that. I reckon a few more figures on the deck with each group of aircraft will look good.
