It does look very fiddly Erik, but that time you spend doing it does produce spectacular results.
Yeap I agree- it is already looking really good.
Thanks guys!
During lunch I found a better way. I split the thread in three threads. So it’s have a third part thickness compared to the first picture. Looking better. I make three threads per stick.
Can’t wait to continue… cheers
I also went outside my house for some reference pictures for the bushes.
I was going to remark that the rope looked a bit thick, but that is no longer neccesary I see
The challenge wth following your threads is that one never knows where it is going! You make so many side steps and detours that I alway wonder what will be next…
But what you do, is of a high quality… So keep surprising us!!!
Well thanks man! Yes after looking at the pictures I realized that they where to thick.
My weakness is that I got to many ideas and possibilities in my head. I want to build so much, but life is to short.
Anyway, after my pasta I finished the first part of the fence. I added some plants etc to see how it looked. Both the fence and the plants will be primed black and then repainted with airbrush and brush.
Cheers
I find thread rather hard to paint. Somehow the original color always seems to show through the paint…
I hope it will work out. The thread will be painted with brush and airbrush at least three times I think.
I have redesigned the left part of the fence as you see in the pictures. I just made my self a jig for the gutters. Cheers
PS I will cut down some of the sticks on the fence.
Great little bits of work done on it Erik. I really like those fences … They give it a real feel for a real area in that time frame which are still being used today… And glad your finally getting some time to eat
Erik,
Great work as usual on the small and large diorama. Like the jig for the gutters.
Thanks guys!
Sundays are fun days!
Got inspired of my favorite book while taking a cup of coffee.
So out of this I tried to make some mushrooms:
Result:
I have also painted the base black, I will paint in black again after adding grass etc. but I thought it looks better black than clay-colored.
It’s also easier to see where I need to keep working with the base.
I have also. Add don test with a sort of fern I try to reproduce.
Great idea for those mushrooms… They will look good if they make it onto the dio. Keep up the great ideas … They help all of us
Thanks John. Well unfortunately they are just a little too big. This type of mushrooms can be big as these, but I am not sure if a will use them.
They are common in a forest not in an open field like this. Maybe in the back at the tree.
I agree with the forest setting for those… I have some small bits of sprue that I think you could use if you sliced the rounded bit off and added a stalk … I may experiment with that idea …
Less than 3 weeks to the competition.
A final step today, the fence is almost ready, from now I feel it’s only rock’n roll!
For the first time we can see the setup as it will look in the end. I just added some bushes etc including my two mushrooms for fun. The fire wood building is missing in the pictures.
Just so you understand, not a single color on the groundwork looks like it will do in the end.
Cheers
I haven’t dropped the idea of some mushrooms, I made a new prototype out of a end piece of a sprue.
I think a couple of these could work out.
Very nice …the new one is a more realistic size for a normal field mushroom.
Thanks John!
It looks like this:
During morning coffee, I experimented with painting a fern.
I have 4 pieces of the fern, I will definitely use them.
Erik, are the ferns and the clumps of white flowers from sets ? and if yes, from who ? The painting looks nice on the one you’ve shown above
The mushrooms are a great idea- I think you are spot-on with the smaller size variety.
