I was just curious what others do for other hobbies? Myself, I do mountain man/ historical reenactments. I try to study a lot of history. I am a VN Vet and retired heavy equipment operator, biker and have worked at all kinds of side jobs over the years. I enjoy the friendship of this group. Wayne
I actually have 2 now. I have been a gamer for many, many years. I am an Xbox player. I am a solo gamer, I don’t play the mass player games.
My newest other is woodworking. I having a blast building stuff from wood. I have built my work desk, a cabinet for my 3d printer, and currently working on more organization projects for all my woodworking tools.
I’m into gardening: i grow stuff and work on rewilding my yard so it’s full of life! Building legos is another hobby of mine. Reading, working out, and baking are other things I like to do.
I designed and made a lot of parts for my bike over the years in a machine/ fabricating shop. I’ve made my chairs and boxes in woodworking shops I worked in that I use for my reenactments. All experience is good to know.
Enjoy retro gaming.
Mostly on Commodore Amiga and Sega Master System and Mega Drive.
Have got a couple of other oldies, mostly Atari.
Basically, getting the systems and games I wanted as a child but we couldn’t afford!
I did start to collect vinyl a couple of years ago, but had a few scratched records and put me off buying. I did manage to acquire quite a few old Marillion 12" singles which are amazing!
In the summer I try to turn my hand to a bit of gardening, but it just becomes more work than a pleasure. About the only thing I have success growing are tomatoes. And weeds.
I collected vintage paperback science fiction, fantasy, and horror for quite a while, so now it’s time to finish reading them.
I used to game a lot; rpgs, card games like Magic the Gathering, pc games like Battlefield but now the only game I play is PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, or PUBG for short. Eight+ years in now.
I also pretend to do woodworking as I am totally untrained in the topic but I try to figure it out. I also am into vintage VWs but no longer have one myself.
Tabletop miniatures wargamer. Historicals are my first love (in particular the 12th C Rennaisance period in Europe, Hundred Years War, but also early Republican Roman, Etruscans, Samnites, etc), but I do SF/Fantasy as well (like Warhammer & Warhammer 40K).
I also play D&D, & have been doing so since I was 8.
My university degree is in history, so I tend to study a lot of that. The European Middle Ages are flat out my favorite period, but I’ve collected a lot of information on milhist, obviously as a modeler.
Also a big fan of SF literature.
Damon.
I think we have a gaming thread here somewhere - if you’re interested in showing off your gaming miniatures. But maybe I’m misremembering…
Not necessarily hobbies but my interests for several years now are following INDY car racing, NHRA competitions and spring of this year I got caught up watching MLB rooting for the Braves. I do spend a little time on the PS5 but it’s only a distraction from mind numbing boredom.

Been watching Carolina Mudcats, Carolina League Single A team for the Brewers. My daughter started working for them last season and she will be working for them when they move to Wilson and become the Warbirds. As a matter of fact, watching the Sunday night game on tv now.
In addition to modeling US artillery and armor in 1:35, I enjoy birding and international travel. We try to spend 90 days a year traveling outside the US and have been to all 7 continents and 83 countries since retiring. On the birding side, I’ve seen 2,349 species of birds and have lists in 89 countries. I have a tiny mobile modeling kit that allows me to work on models on sea days when we are on cruises. Life is good!
I imagine you have the Merlin app on your phone, then?
I love motorcycles - Nortons in particular but also a big Honda fan. In the Honda department I had an ST 1300 sport touring for 17 years but the distance thing doesn’t appeal anymore so I sold it a while back . I still have a rare 1990 GB 500 - one year only motorcycle. It is almost a Brit bike ..
I have three Nortons - 1950 ES2 and 1972 750 Combat Roadster, both completely restored by me ..
and a 1956 Model 99 Dominator currently under restoration by me..
Love music of most genres and play a little guitar on and off ..
Had this Guild D35 for 50 plus years..
and more recently added this Gretsch 6120..
Avid upland bird hunter for years but both my beloved Brittanies are in dog heaven now so that chapter of my life is mostly closed now..
Nugget ..
and his predecessor Jester.
but throughout my life I suppose building models has remained the biggest constant.
Thanks for looking - RT
Yes indeed!
Damon.
Besides modeling, I love music. I played drums from the age of 8 or 9 but haven’t in many years due to the lack of a drum set lol!
I also read military history and used to love working out but not much anymore. Hopefully I’ll do more of these things when I retire in two years.

Is that a Vincent in the background ?
