What did you do in your modeling workshop today?

Well some life got in the way, had to take care of my Mom and that’s no easy task. So, away from the bench time. Then a five week modeler’s block and again, no bench time. Finally got the mojo back and had the Pz IV70A ready for paint.

And in paint: AK Real Colors RC060 Dunkelgelb RAL 7028 mixed 50/50 with Mr. Color Leveling Thinner and shot at 12 PSI with a .5 nozzle. It was hard to see coverage because the plastic color was so close to the paint color. It’s going to need a second coat.

I’ve spent the last couple of days working on the landing gear and bays for the sci-fi project:

Work up front went fairly smoothly for a nice and tidy fit, but in back you might notice that I cleverly selected some giant tires…so, obviously I couldn’t simply pretend that they would conveniently disappear into the monocoque, so a guy went ahead and added to the bottom of the hull to at least look like they might retract, and have a place to retract to!

This still relies on a lot of pretending!, but there’s a lot of that going on anyway. As the rear bays are big, and even with the giant tires, well, you can see in there, so remnant Aber etch from a T-55 Enigma came to the rescue, along with plenty of evergreen, patience, and time…Of course you can’t see the two hydraulic rams add to each rear landing gear - naturally…but, they are indeed up there.

Cheers
Nick .

I like those AK paints. I just did a few rounds of Dunkelgelb and Panzergrau for a few projects. I find I can thin it even a bit more than 50/50 but it depends a bit on the color it’s going over.

Matt, the Pz IV70A is looking good! That’s an excellent looking Dunkelgelb!

Today’s Workbench Comedy of Errors…

This cursed Panther build is spread over 22 years…so I forget stuff…like the driver’s hull periscopes.

Dr. Porsche engineered a device to solve the manufacturing issue: Vorrichtung zur Befestigung eines Periskops or in Wade’s World, periscope attachment device.

Don’t laugh too hard at this stupidity, both periscopes went in to place!

BTW - From the fat stash, pulled a spare #6164 Dragon Panther D kit & hull. Aligned the periscopes on the sheet styrene with it as the template. The spare hull also allowed practice.

QT Tracks snapped right in place with the ends joined on the sprocket. Easiest link to link tracks to install ever! QuickTracks are my new favorite link to link tracks!

Added a second headlight.

Test fitted turret.

The Jake has a little swagger now…

Yesterday… Attached float struts to under-wing. Aligned and allowed to cure oveernight. :hammer_and_wrench:

Float rigging happened today. :hammer_and_wrench:
• Albion Alloys 0.33mm Nickel Silver Rod
• VMS Flexy 5K Black Thin CA (VMS.CM11)

Note: The CA has only been applied to the wire at the wing’s underside. This allows the floats some flexibility. You know… just in case. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Thank’s for floating along!

Not much modeling over the weekend(Orthodox Easter, so we took the plane to Varna to visit my sister-in-law).
Once home again, I’ve built the tracks of my M-2 Light Artillery Tractor, added details to interior walls, built the backrest and modified the cushions.Built and temporarily attached both tool boxes to the sides of the grille, that accomodate the headlights too:

Plenty of detailing ahead…

Cheers,
Angel

A seasoned painter :muscle:t3:, looks nice! As de mesh gluework looks!
As I’m now mainly using Real Colors I like to ask which varnish u use after airbrushing Real Colors?
Btw, did you see as from last week or so AK has renewed the package of RC?
Thanks!

I switch to oils and Turpenoid for washes and weathering, so I seal the paint with acrylic floor covering (here in the States, Holloway House Quick Shine). Yes, I’ve been following the news about Real Colors; thank God they’re not changing or thinning the paint!

Thanks, but I hoped you had an more global or European solution .
It’s hard to find American products here, if it isnt Coke (the beverage :sunglasses:) or Marlboro.
I hoped you used a good varnish that would resist RC.

Just go to your local big box store and look for clear acrylic floor polish. I’m sure you’ll find some.

This one? And can you airbrush it?

That’s the one! Airbrush it straight from the bottle.

Club members have done both hairy stick and airbrush. I probably wouldn’t run it through my best airbrush but that’s me. Windex/ammonia should probably be used to clean or whatever the cleaning instructions say on the bottle.

@justsendit Michael, Jake is getting some bling bling with the floats! Looking fantastic!

@flatfour Watto, thank you! It’s slowly moving forward again.

@TeeAge well said, I definitely felt sheepish😆

@Uncle-Heavy desperation makes for excellent inspiration. Thank you.

Eduard’s Panther A PE skirt kit works for the Panther D since it used the same hull. Used Mig’s PE Burnishing Fluid to reduce risk of exposed shiny PE if paint chips. Lightly sanded the PE as prep. Only needed a few cc’s thanks to the pippette, brush and an old plastic frozen dinner tray.

Airbrushed the PE with a different shade of Dunkelgelb to add contrast. Added the PE skirt brackets and a couple of skirts. Still have several PE retainer clips to add. Plus touch ups.

Managed to get the Taurus cruise missile painted in two sessions (nose and tail). Both it and the Storm Shadow are ready for their decals.
