What did you do in your modeling workshop today?

Thanks Johnny! NMF finishes are always a challenge, and this was no exception. There was some cursing on the way! I hope to get back to some AFV’s again soon, but currently working on a two seat Spitfire in 1/48.

Have not been at the bench for almost 6 months. I have all of today set aside (barring some family “emergency”) to have 8 hours of bench time and I intend to get some serious modeling done. Stay tuned for photos.

Well with approximately 10 modeling days for me before our big show I need to get my head down and get somethings finished. These are fairly quick, although still another Striker and Spartan MCT, Scorpion, Scimitar and 3x 432 mortar carriers to build, prime and paint. Plus try and get a 1/35 Type 61 painted.

Those 10 days don’t include doing the house chores as well and a couple of hospital visits planned in, so more like 6 days.

Some serious repairing as patching up doesn’t work and trying to keep the lower half as it was…

That camo painting was really pain in the ass I think..

One thing to consider: I was actually in Berlin when I did my first “cubist” Chieftain camo on the old Tamiya kit. (only game in town then) I used three different colors of primer out of rattle cans. The mask came off without a hitch, and the colors matched perfectly. They grey is usually the tricky one.

I’m still working on a really big “little” 1/48 scale loco, and now we have stanchions and rails:

This became one of those tasks where a 3rd hand would have been good to have! While I was on a roll I added an engineers door to the back side of the cab, and more detail on the pilots. There are a few odds and ends to go, but they haven’t arrived yet, so, I’ll go on to one of the other vehicles to be used in the dio

Some more work on the warrior / rapier fit.

Fittings parts to the chassis, where I think they will be.

Still working out how to fix the launch rails, so won’t vibrate lose later.

I started a Hobby Boss 1/35 Schneider CA a few days ago. I’m still at Step 1. The road wheels, idler, drive sprocket, and front and rear bogies painted and ready to assemble.

The tracks are a little iffy. each link has the pad and two links, but the placement of the links is vague. I am assembling 2 pads to see if the placement is correct.

Frank that’s a brilliant idea! That’s so simple it’s genius. That also would work to make any size headlight lens you need.

Okay, okay, don’t rush me big boy. I put in 2 more hours after dinner to make it a 10 hour build. RFM M4A3E8 “A Paper Doll”. It goes together very quickly. No putty needed anywhere. The fit is perfect on everything. The bogies are a bit challenging but cleaning the wheels with a mandrel chucked in a Dremel made quick work of them. Great kit. I may have this finished in a few weeks.

Yeah, I see those wheels floating, too. Have to adjust that.
