I’m hoping to build a USAF truck/trailer using Hobby Link’s M246/ M819 tractor/wrecker and M172 trailer.
The problem is that the M246 set doesn’t come with the wheels needed and AFAIK no one else is making them. I’ve written to Khang at HL but his sources tell him the M246 ran the same wheel/tire combo as the M54 series. Not many did apparently and the bigger tire on the ‘246 are taller and wider, so I’m not keen to use the “standard” smaller, narrower tires.
Just wondering, are there any 3D printers out there willing to make these 10-wheel sets? I don’t know how many M246 sets HL have already sold and will sell in the future, but this “upgrade” addition would have a market I’m sure.

Camo complete, gun mount in place, roof latch reduced in height and o/s bump stop scratched.
Hoping to replicate the rope structure on the o/s rear mudguard this week.

Tail-sitter with a twist…
Flattened tailwheel and slightly tweaked gear to resemble a turn to port.
Cockpit interior is permanently installed now.
Wing roots were glued and weighted-down for overnight curing. In addition, the fuselage is partially closed-up.

Nacelle Nightmares!
Inside the wheel bays… Approximately 0.5mm had to be trimmed from the PE parts in order to fit the landing gear through the bay openings. Note: The landing gear assemblies must be attached to the wings before nacelles can be added to them.
The Cooling Rings were painted with ‘Rust-Oleum (334020) Flat Black.’ The PE Grills were painted with ‘Vallejo Magnesium Metal Color (77.711).’
Styrene thinning was needed around the 'Eduard Exhaust Stacks and ‘Metallic Details’ PE to ensure a proper fit.
Metallic Details (MD4818) PE parts added to the Eduard resin.
Lots more work to come…

Sooo, I put the Bradley back away and dug out the old Trumpeter M915. It was already base coated with NATO Green and once I got started with the rest of the cammo I was on a roll.
Should have it finished up this week 
Update; shot the trailer and a couple smaller parts this morning.

I’ve seen C500s, and even those with twin steer, but not the big 8x8 in the model. It just seemed like a really good project, so here we are!

Small but tricky step today. I took the spare “plain” o/s mudguard and drilled it out for the rope to pass through, as per the pic up-post.
Once the ropes are completed (this rope is too thick at 0.6mm) and painted a green wash I’ll find a grab handle to match the original.

I cannot get window frames looking as good as I’d like. Any secrets re tape and painting them?

Well, for the front windshield I just used Tamiya tape, it’s mostly straight lines, but make sure you get the inner edges painted too because they show once installed.
For the side and back windows I used a black sharpie, inside and out, and did multiple passes to get good coverage. But then went over that with a light coat of clear flat to knock the gloss down. I did mask and paint the center posts, they had a much deeper offset.

A few months ago, I left this model more or less like this:
Once I got primer and the base colors on, let it sit, for about 5 months. And now with paint, decals and weather:
This will now make its way back to the dio it is intended for. I forgot how big this was, even at 1/48 it is indeed big and is heavier than it looks

Thanks very much to Michael and Barney for the rope supplier information. I wish I knew the actual size of that rope, maybe a fellow modeller can advise?
I’ve contacted the Canadian company first due to shipping and import fee considerations and I’ll wait to hear from them.
