Some plants on the dio. Base is now nearly finish.
You got me! ![]()
For some variety, I’m going back and forth on a dio and a model truck build. I’ve started painting the truck, starting with the engine, and sorry about the poor lighting:
Again, sorry about the poor quality lighting - it’s foggy today, so a bit dark. But, you can see where this really big V16 is headed. I like how the exposed valve heads are working out, and think/hope they’ll look really good with better light.
The exhaust manifolds were tricky to paint. Looking at the prototype engine, it seems there is as much dark gray as there is rust - or, should I say, this is very old rust, and I imagine, going through prolonged use and many heat cycles, the rust color is not bright rust. Again, better lighting will tell the full story, as there is indeed rust color there!
Regarding the two horizontal filters, I was planning to add some small decals, but again, looking at the/a (the version of the engine I have pics with is from a dump truck) prototype, they are just white. And the two vertical filters, these do not appear to be the commonly seen screw in filters, and instead seem to be removable filters that get inserted into a housing. I don’t know? but, that’s what the pics suggest, again, eliminating the opportunity for some extra color.
The blue is not intended to be the bluish Detroit Diesel, though close, and instead matching the color of the truck -
Cheers

Nick, your piping / wiring skills are insane.
Geez. I thought it was real.
Cut the yellow wire… NO, the red!!!
For a little visual interest, I’ve added some wire details to the Ju 88A-4 starboard engine. ![]()

The port engine (top) is all buttoned-up now. The giant top seam will get clammed-up when the nacelle is mounted to the wing.
Thanks for having a look!

Not just the wiring, but the cast look on the exhaust manifold is incredible. Very well done sir!
There are a few external bit missing that I’ll add, but other than those and engineering tools (Shovel, jack, extinguisher, spare tracks) do you see anything I need to address before a dull coat?
Some master class work everyone !!
So here’s what I’ve worked yesterday..
SdKfz 263 got some wheels
Miniart T-54 A got some detail painting before I start the weathering
Dragon Tiger II , got all the tracks !
Takom Bergepanther , the batteries are on
Today’s work..
ICM Truck , got some work done on the chassis
Miniart T-54 A , started the weathering with filters & pinwash
Dragon Tiger II, Tracks painted
The GAZ truck is always a favorite of mine!
My GAZ-66
(Angel will tell you I got some of my details wrong. He worked on the real thing!)
My GAZ-34 long bed conversion: (A work still in progress.)
Looks more like Lloyd Bridges!
things were progressing nicely, I got the hair shading almost to where I liked it, but then I completely washed away the top of the nose and upper forehead brushing a glaze.
Valejio glaze medium with AMMO paint, but I’m not sure what caused the problem areas.
I had used AMMO Lucky varnish on the skin base before adding more color.
Cool looking GAZ- especially with the cab tilted forward- a neat touch. Interesting conversion work too.
Was able to do some repair. I’ll let this dry for a few days, apply some more clear, then finish shading.
On all these GAZ models the cab is hinged to tilt forward to show the engine when desired. Both my models have the tilting cab.
