From the RFM kit, what is part L45? - should it painted the overall engine colour do you think?
Purely guessing but I think it is something to do with getting air into the cylinders, maybe some kind of air filter?
I guess so as well. Here’s an earlier variant (used on F and H versions)

I can’t speak to the accuracy of the colors in the image, but Sprue Brothers has the Rye Field Models RFMRM2075 1:35 Maybach HL 120 TRM Engine, which suggests that the part in question is a dark grey:

Yeah; i think Dunkelgrau would be a nice color, along with some darkened Rotbraun and a nice layer of grime and soot.

That was a joke. Maybe it is part of the integrated crew coffee maker. If not, maybe it should be.
