Lots of interesting stuff!
Nipped into my LHS tonight for some supplies for my Super Sabre build.
Some Tamiya Weathering compound that I hope will be able to replicate the burnt metal effect and some new metallic paints and gloss black primer. Will be interesting to see how these perform.
While I was there, it occurred to me that although I’ve built several USAF and Navy aircraft from the Vietnam War over the years I’ve been modelling, I’ve never done anything from the other side. In fact I’ve done very few Migs at all. Besides from an Egyptian SU-7 and Airfix Mig-23 I did during my GCSE exams, I don’t remember doing any Soviet era jets. There was the ancient Airfix Mig-15 about the same time, but that went in the bin so doesn’t really count.
So when I saw the Eduard Mig-21 with VPAF decals included I bought it on impulse.
Looks like a very kit from the brief look I’ve had in the box. Lots of extra parts, presumably for other versions and lots of weapons too! Even has RATO gear which would be fun to build, but not sure if the VPAF used that kit on their Migs.
I think it will be a fun build.

@Mead93, you have some real goodies there! Looks like some great projects ahead!
Well the postman brought this today! I saw it on eBay weeks ago and had been watching it. Around the time of my birthday the seller sent me one of those discounted offers with free shipping, so I took the deal. Happy Birthday to me! Lol!

I built this kit when it was a new release, so I’ll have another go at it now, and theoretically do a better job now that I have a lot more skills, experience, and tools. I love this old experimental camo, and besides, this kit really has one of the best load outs of any 1/48 A-10 kits, Rockeyes & Mavericks.

Thanks! I’m real excited for the avenger. Gonna hold off though till my aircraft skills build up.
Are you gonna do a build log? I love the thunderbolt II/warthog. It looks so menacing
A Corsair and/or Hellcat would be nice warm ups for doing GSB.
I have a hobby boss Corsair f4u-1 early I may build soon ish. Good call trying this kit to get the paint down
If doing the box art scheme, I would paint the nose cone white first then yellow, mask and then gray followed by GSB.

I have a couple of the AM Avengers in my stash, but have yet to build one. It does look like a beautiful well detailed kit in the box. And yes, I’ll be doing a WIP build log on the A-10. I do love the plane as well! Nothing better exists for CAS!
I love the look of the avenger!
Awesome, I will definitely follow along!
Happy (belated) Birthday to me Pt.II: My other eBay bargain score arrived this afternoon! Woohoo! All the way from Lithuania in less than two weeks. I’ve been wanting one of these for awhile for my 1/48 Red Air Force

I opened the box and had a peek inside… oh what a lovely looking kit! Even the decals don’t look like the old ICM stuff. They sure have stepped up their game. Now to get a PE rigging set for this little beauty…

Looks like a gorgeous kit. Haven’t pulled the trigger yet but I will
Sweet! Got any idea of the scheme you’ll do?
I’ve got my eyes open, but it will depend on the price once they land here. It might be a case of buy and live on bread and water till next payday!
I never did manage to get one of Academy’s either.
Well, before I bought it I thought I’d apply the decals for the Marine Corps plane I purchased to put on the Academy kit which seems to have become a shelf queen (I put all the parts back in the box…). But now that I have the box I’m kind of taken with the air wing commander markings on the cover. I don’t think we had enough interest for an air wing commanders campaign when Michael proposed it before but I have to say this does look pretty slick. I don’t know - my interests flutter like a butterfly so who knows what I’ll do when I get around to opening the box.

Picked this up today. My favourite delta wing fighter. It will be my first time building a jet fighter. The Sprues look awesome

Very nice! I did not know that Revell also made the C version. I have only seen their M and B kits previously. And those are gorgeous!
The C looks amazing! The detail is extremely crisp and plentiful. I left the Sprues in the bag for now but from what I could see on the fuselage and wings it should be great. The tiger scheme has decals for tail art and the black portions of the stripes so you only need to spray the grey and the white portions. And the decals look fantastic. Defitnely leaning towards the tiger meet scheme
UPS just delivered my latest order from Sprue Bros.
