What the postman brought today (AeroScale)

Just some motivation for the P-47 newbies and old stagers … :slightly_smiling_face:
In the old forum we had a P-47 SIG and made a group build from time to time. This was my tribute in 2016. Both kits are Tamiya, the best you can get for your money.

Nice builds. Did you record what blues you used for this? I have a MIG-21 that is in a dark blue, a middle blue, and a white. These look good together and I think the key to that combination is getting blues that look good together.

I remember that we had a discussion about the colours, because I was also not sure about it. But finally I have used Insignia Blue FS35044 and RAF Azure Blue. Both paints are from Vallejo (71091 and 71108). The blue Thunderbolt is an early M without fin, not a D. But I have used a kit of the D for this.

Happy New Year from the antipodes to all of you! Here’s to a happy, healthy and prosperous 2022!

I’ve built the Tamiya Razorback a couple of times in the past, it’s definitely the best kit I’ve ever built in terms of fit and detail.

I’ve built the Bubbletop from Tamiya as well, equal to the Razorback as a kit but I prefer the look of the Razorback.

I’m looking forward to building it again, this time will be my first try at masking for markings.

Cheers, D

My wallet is Happy y’all didn’t post these pictures before I hit the hobby store. Might be next kit purchase, I’ve been very close to buying it a number of times, it’s a nice looking aircraft

Inspired by Magnus’ 109 builds (check his blog) and seeing how Hannants had several on special I got the postie to drop some off together with some 1/48 Eduard engines for a project I’ve been thinking about for sometime.

First kit arrived yesterday. Not built an Eduard kit before, but having had a quick look through the box, it looks really nice.

Lancaster was a Christmas present. Older kit but iconic plane, so nice to have in the stash.

The Zero is also flying my direction right now, coming directly from Czech Republic … :slightly_smiling_face:

@FlyingSauerkraut, both of those 1/48 scores of yours are on my wish list! I can’t wait to see you build those!

So today I went out for a bit of hobby shopping after a dr’s appointment… if you’re out, might as well make it worth your while….
So I stopped at Hobby Lobby since this is one of the weeks with the 40% off all model kits, and I’ve been wanting this one since they started carrying it last year….

All in all, a good day.

I have a few sitting in the stash. Caracal and Flying Leatherneck Decals have some nice paint schemes. Black Dog does a nice looking blade fold but no wing fold which would be nice. Res/kit and Royale Resin do wheels which are nice. Personally the pit updates are not needed as you can barely see inside, to each their own that importance.

Yes, I’m thinking of attempting to do a fold up build on my own. If for no other reason than to save on shelf display space once this one is built. And I’ll definitely be needing some new decals. I’m not one for CAG or Squadron Commander full color markings. I like the low viz line dog markings of the everyday workhorses.

Look forward to seeing you attempt that as I would like to try instead of spending the extra money on the HB kit.

Thanks Ryan. When I do get around to it somewhere down the road, it’s gonna be something of a long slow project on account of the stowage folds because I’m too cheap to buy the AM stuff. So most of the pain and goofs will be self inflicted.
