What the postman brought today (AeroScale)

Happy birthday!

Will be interested to see the P.11. Have been wondering what it’s like.

Hi Stephen

Many thanks!

Re: the PZL, my reaction went from a diplomatically (hopefully!) concealed “ohh…” to “OHHH!” as soon as I took a look inside the box! I’ll do a review soon, but my first impressions are that it’s a little stunner!

All the best

Second (or possibly third) hand from Hannants is this vintage Revell Liberator.

A real shame that the box top is faded and stained, I bet that painting was gorgeous when fresh! Importantly all the parts are present and that’s the important thing. I was pleasantly surprised at how sharp and clean the surface details are in this kit. Far superior to the Airfix Liberator. Nice panelling and even the rivets seem in scale. Interior on the other hand, is non-existant. Nothing a bit of scratching can’t solve. The decals are yellowed and probably unusable. My aim is to build it as an RAF Coastal Command GR.V using some Pavla conversion sets. I’m excited about building this one. The Liberator has always been one of my favourites. I’m still hopeful that either Airfix or Revell will follow their very nice B-17’s with one in the next couple of years.

And a pair of AZ Models SR.53’s.

One to build as the prototype on display at RAF Cosford and another in one of those WHIF schemes.
I missed the original prototype release, but easy to do with a serial number change.

My first two aircraft kits in a very long time (mostly do 1/35 armor)

The Corsair is one of my favourite WW2 fighters and the F-16 my all time favourite plane. First adventure into 1/48 aircraft and all I can say is wow are they big. Here is the F-16 fuselage next to my 1:35 T-54 WIP, it’s almost 1.5 times the length

Both kits look awesome in the box. Not sure which I’ll tackle first.

Hi,

Would you consider letting go of those JASDF decals?

Thanks,
HG

Oh that control unit and all those tool heads for the motor tool look very useful! Great score!

So lately I have stumbled across a guy on eBay who sells decal sheets for a much more reasonable price than most are going for nowadays, so I have picked up a few sets.

For early A-10s: pre “Charcoal Lizard”

For the F-5A in my stash

And for the F-89D/H in my stash

I also finally came across a guy in France who makes the Matra Super 530 missile in 1/48… nobody makes them in AM, and unless you scavenge them from another kit, there are no options in 1/48 to get any… until now. These look to be 3-D printed and are not bad at all, especially the pair on the right. The left pair are a bit softly detailed at the tail fins.

Landing today is an Airfix Kate and some decals and bits for that Liberator.

I believe the decals are the same set Eduard had in their rebox of the Hasegawa kit. Seem a bit strange, they have a film over the top that has to be pulled off the day after applying to the model. We’ll see how well that works in practice.
