What the postman brought today (AeroScale)

Two new arrived yesterday… the Russian Mi-8 obviously will get Ukraine markings… and the A400M will be hard to hide from her…

Indeed, there is some irony here… but all my Russian jets, bombers whatever have been placed on a big break!

You can order the Zoukei-Mura He 219 through the Volks Japan store, or from the Volks USA store, or from Sprue Brothers; from the Volks Japan store it’s 17,384JP¥, from the other two it’s $174 (USD). Their kits are pricey, but they have an absurd level of detail – the Zoukei-Mura product page for the He 219 has links to the ‘Old Man Notes’ that cover some of the design process for the kit and a sort of build log – where other kits might have pins and sockets for part alignment, in the cylinder banks for the engines, the alignment points are the molded-in pistons and piston rods:

I think it was this YouTube video that pushed me over the edge:

I ordered the kit from Scale Hobbyist for $174 US.

Finished the 219 a few months ago. It was by far one of my favorite builds.

I apologize if this is a stupid question but did WNW open back up or are they actually no longer in business? I’ve heard various conflicting reports the last time I read about this was at the beginning of Covid and was hoping all was nothing but rumors and they would still resume operations after the lock downs lifted in NZ. I’ve recently got the bug to build several WNW kits after reading the great reviews of their amazing kits. Regardless that is a great haul!

I’ve got the Tamiya 1/48 version with the Aires update set. Am having a rest from aviation for a while, but this will be my next aircraft build. A fascinating aircraft.

WingnutWings has most definitely shut down for good.

As Evan said, they are shut down. The crew is working for a new company, Kotare Models. They released their first kit a 1/32 Spitfire Mk.Ia (Mid).

Arrived home from work to find a parcel from Japan waiting for me. Contained these beauties:

The Betty was a steal at £15. Even with cost of shipping, it was less than I’ve seen for sale here.

Wow great deal on the Betty! Nice kits!

PlazaJapan. They regularly have good deals and reduced price sales. So always worth checking their store.
