What the postman brought today (Armorama)

Thanks, on my phone I had to goto the website version for it to make more sense. He has some very nice projects. Bookmarked for later. :+1:

A real oldie from a friend from Canada.

In truth Brian from Scale Reproductions in Louisville brought this to me many moons ago. However since starting my MA3-7410 semi-tractor I am just not sure I want to start on yet another MA3 8x8 chassis, perhaps ever! (This would be my sixth such construction!)

Part deux…24 hrs later.

Some molds separated easier then others.

A pile of stone. The pavers need more time to dry next time before removing. I am torn on the current results. By in large the items are not uniform but that is also good they are not uniform. After they fully dry, adding them to a base under and paint they will probably do a good enough job.

Thank you for taking the time to post pictures of these items and the results. After viewing your first post with these things, I looked up the product but the seller’s description and pictures left me with a lot of questions. Your last series of pictures answered those questions.

As best I can tell, those molds are inflexible and do not impart any texture on the finished pieces. For the paving tiles, one could add a thin layer of clay to the top of each piece, then impress a texture into that layer. For the bricks, it probably makes sense to build up a wall, let it dry, then add a thin outer layer to the whole assembly and texture it in one go.

No problem.

Correct, these molds are not flexible and given the manufacturer suggests using DAS, it would be difficult to use if flexible. Also correct there is no texture applied. This can be done in many different ways, from adding to exposed layer while still drying, adding additional water to the exposed face to sculpt while drying or added texture after drying either free or attached to the base. The last method is how @G-man69 uses DAS very well for this stone walls.

I have be looking at some paver/brick patterns this morning to get some ideas for small bases to apply and test the final results. While getting gas last night grabbed this column pattern I might try for the bricks.

I still have over half a brick of DAS, so I will probably make some more bricks cause what else am I going to do with it. :man_shrugging:

Your project has me thinking about something I drew up a few months back. Maybe I could sculpt some bricks and tiles and stuff, then make a silicon mold of the pieces, then cast everything with plaster. Another possibility is cutting shapes into heavy cardboard, covering it with plastic wrap, and casting that way. Or I could make cookie cutters from pop cans. Oh. I wonder if I could make a rain poncho cookie cutter. Plant leaf cookie cutters? Cut plant leafs into cardboard, cover with plastic, and mass produce leaves? There are a lot of possibilities here.

I was enjoying building my first 1/35 scale (Sherman), so while I was busy I had to order some more.

Great news!

Those bring back some memories. Certainly not state of the art but in their day they were just about the only game in town. Great kits for someone getting back into the hobby or just starting out. Have fun.

Better late than never!

BTW - Jealous, the only one I could find back in the 1990’s had a tattered box, each corner looked :rat: :mouse2: :mouse: :rat: knawed.

Still shrink wrapped! :+1: :+1:

I never got that one. But had a few of the other Monogram kits in that series. My favorite one was the Brumbar (Grizzly Bear). I love those kits. I wish they would be re- released soon.
