What the postman brought today (Armorama)

Wow, I didn’t know down under had some Rednecks running around. Never seen a M113 pick up truck. Must be a new model.

The results put me off drinking for the rest of the tour lol…

Colin @Catsrcool good deal on the price but shame about the damage … Hopefully the kit will build up nicely without the damaged part… FWIW, when I built that kit as just the smart kit, you really didn’t need PE and I’d be dubious about needing to much resin as the kit is so nicely detailed anyway …

Thanks John.
I have contacted the seller and they are asking Dragon for a replacement.
looking at the part IRL and in the picture you can see the print layer lines
So I am not bothered really if I get a replacement. I intend to use the resin end caps with brass tube like this build:

Good on you for getting it. You’re better off with brass tube anyway. Enjoy the kit. It’s close to perfect. Mine is sitting waiting to ship with the new Tamiya Jagdpanzer IV 70/A at HobbyEasy. I back ordered the SOL Models 1/16 SAS Jeep conversion for the Takom kit, and the Firestone tires, they’ll be here in 2 more weeks, then it will all ship together. You don’t want to know what the bill was.

Thanks.
The new Tamiya Jagdpanzer is on my wishlist along with the A34 Comet.
I can onlly imagine what the bill for your purchases would be, for me its the shipping cost that’s normally the killer. HobbyEasy have a T-Model SSyms kit for under £25 but they want £30 to send it

The Aussie Ute has been a firm staple of our motor industry since the year dot…

Check out this one:

Thales even made a ute version of the Bushmaster:

Looks very nice Al. I get tempted every time I see someone post their acquisition. Just one thing, it is “ALV” - Armoured Logistics Vehicle. Probably just a typo, but hey…

Hmm……the warped and broken piece is the carrier that is waste and thrown out once built. The printed parts look ok to me.

Since taking the pictures I have removed the parts from the supports and the wrecking bar is S shaped and the main part of the tube has a bend in it. But as I explained earlier in the thread I am not overly worried and will just be using the end caps and brass tube.

Could it be possible to straighten the bar using “heat” ?

Thanks for the suggestion, I may try it just to see how it turns out. @Johnnych01 @SSGToms have both said how good the plastic parts are so it would not be a great loss if I broke it.

Maybe start the experimenting with the scrap carrier parts to collect experience with the material?
Resin materials behave differently, some stay straight after “heat” treatment, others will flex back, others are too brittle and resist all attempts at “shape shifting”

This one actually came back with me after a week’s break in Cornwall recently. I found it reduced price in a model shop in Truro. I also found a reasonable model shop in Penzance, which must surely be Englands’ most westerly, and the UK’s most southerly model shop! It must have been your vibes whilst I was down there @Johnnych01 !!

So with that one in the bag, I picked these up on Monday from the Tank Museum

Then to my complete surprise, this came in this morning’s post, like magic!

The Modelling gods work in very clever ways of you ask me!

Not Mallets by any chance ? Its a strange little shop but they have some decent kits there … a mate got Tamiya Tomcat marked at 80 for 55 with a bit of haggling as it had been there months… didnt know about the Penzance place though, but thats to far away to drive for just a kit though …

Yes it was John, well the Toymaster part at the back. Quite a large selection of models. Very memorable was the superb cornish pasty we got from the balers opposite! The shop in Penzance seems primarily to be a small model railway shop, called Supercards on the outside, it’s about halfway up the Causewayhead on the right. Not a huge selection of models to be honest, def not worth a long drive!

I did pick up a couple of the Osprey Modelling series though though.

The tankograd 5029, rocketenartillerie, gives a lot more detail of the vehicles and trailer launcher, which is mounted in the m752.

There are parts on the spruce’s for Uk and German that are marked NOT to use

I’ve told the wife in a jokingly way that my $50 kit has over 300 parts while her new purse for $50 has one moving part. Who has the better value??

Envious! Had one of these and the RFM ODS Abrams in my sprue bros cart and kept going back and forth on which to get!

You get them all. :smiling_imp:

I had gotten 5004 a few years back and held off on this one for a little bit. SB weekend deal sealed the sale.
