A couple of rescues, both sealed:
I can’t really claim the postman brought this one … I picked it up (along with a kit, but not of a Stryker or anything close!) at the Tank Museum today, after my shift ended.
Looks like a great publication (at that price) on a subject that intrigues me, and given that I already have an Australian LAV in my stash, could be useful.
Resin figures, another reason for get more from border👍
Unfortunately, the kit lacks any detail under the ‘hammerhead’ unit Al. How keen are you on adding detail?
I built one using the old Verlinden set, which also had no detail, so ended up scratch building most. This will give you an idea though:
@danielpanev Daniel, I had an opportunity to try out a couple of Quick Wheel track links tonight. My apologies for not getting back to you as quickly as I’d planned.
Panther D tracks, 3 bags left, right and locking links to close the track loop.
My first attempts assembling two links by snapping together with fingers on work mat failed.
Second attempts to assemble two links by snapping together with tweezer as shown on box also failed on the work mat.
Third attempt using a Ryefield Model Panther track link jig also failed because the Quick Track links wouldn’t fit the jig.
Considered getting out the Fruil model Panther track jig and trying it but was frustrated at this point and went with the nuclear option. Traxx(?) adjustable track jig.
The two links went together with a precision snap! Like butter and hot biscuit on a cold morning! Wow!
Couple of seconds later…
…had to stop before I did the whole track. Very easy and fast to do on a stable surface.
Held together well and articulate like a top quality set of track links.
Test fit on an old Dragon Panther D that’s on my work bench. The fit was very snug on the sprocket but workable.
I’m pleased and may toss the old Dragon plastic Panther D tracks in the trash as these look better.
I used Panzer IV and Tiran tracks from them very nice product
Thank you very much for the efforts and documenting them in such details!
Is that track gizmo of your own homemade device??
Arrived Monday the 7th of Aug, '23. Yet again, the plastic is exquisitely detailed. This is Libor’s second kit of the Morris.
Wow, now that is a neat little item. I’ll try and find one if possible as it’s always good to have the right tool for the right job to make life easier.
Close HobbyTrax.
Not sure if they are still around. I cannot open their website.
It is the general purpose jig from HobbyTrax. They have/had sets for different vehicles.
@Tank_1812 Ryan, thank you! I’ve had that thing so long, I forgot who manufacturered it!
@vettejack John & @Stryker45 Mike, the tools is a Hobby Trax generic track jig. Spacing for the three plates are adjusted with various washers and two screws. I’m not sure if they are still around.
Hobby Trax also made specific track jigs for specifuc model tanks lkke M4 Sherman, M4, Pz IV etc. They were ~$20 to $30 roughly.
Hope that helps. The generic is a good tool. I assume the model specific ones are as well. The generic is especially helpful with small individual links like Fruilmodel’s Panzer II links.
I’ve read the specific types can help set resin track runs or (warped DS) correctly with a little hot water.
A good reason to build it in the “resting” position …
They are, I have a few sets of those T-34 (straight and sag), Hetzer (meant for Tamiya but a little small for Academy), Stuart and Sherman.
I have not used them on Dragon tracks but Tamiya T-34 rubber band and it worked.
Here is what I bought since I last posted on this thread.
To replace the ancient Tamiya kit I was working on:
These were due to the rumor that Tiger had gone belly up:
Again, another replacement for an ancient Tamiya kit I had worked on.
I just always wanted this one.
This was on Lightning Deal. I might sell this one as I already have a Tamiya kit in the stash (and those are good enough for me).
So far, that’s been it. I guess my armor stash is sated for now.
Dam, im after a AML 90 to convert to south Africa, well found.
Sprue Bros. has them in stock.
Postage is more then the Kit to UK.
