Another shipment from Berliner Zinnfiguren.
Much needed color resupply
Unless I am mistaken, four of those pots look like the old 23ml sizes, that we can’t seem to get here in the UK anymore. The others look like the standard 10ml.
I checked out the Berliner Zinnfiguren site, and for Tamiya paints, the headline summary suggests 23ml, but each one I look at at seems to be the standard 10ml.
Did you have to specify 23ml when you bought these?
Thanks in advance
Hi Terry,
no I just order them. Tamiya has their original range in 23 ml, while later colours after XF-69 are only sold into 10 ml size. You can see the size of the jar underneat the prizetag.
Thank you Hermann. I’ll check each one as you say. The 23ml seem like so much better value for money!
I always wondered why Tamiya release the new colors only such small jars.
Smaller jars = higher profit.
An alternative answer could be that Tamiya prioritises the part of the market that do not consume
model paint in large volumes like we do.
Humbrol tins have been 14 ml, or half a UK liquid ounce, for a very long time. They also have/had a few colours in 50 ml and 125 ml tins.
I would gladly buy some of the colours in larger tins while I may finish some of the 14 ml tins of the less frequent colours.
Know of any WIP or completed model trucks built from this movie or the original, Wages of Fear (French: Le Salaire de la peur)? I’d like to build one but want to fast track to the kit and parts sources
One of my all-time favorite movies.
Oh, I forgot about that old movie. Good for you. You can find info here :
Salaire de la peur.
Did you know it is re-filmed? It is still on Netflix

This arrived from Ukraine today. I’m looking forward to putting it to good use. Warning, some assembly required! It was a bit finicky to put together and I wished they had used t-nuts on certain areas. All in all, its well built and think its going to work for me.
A 3rd version?? Didn’t know this until now
Well, whaddya know? Some time ago I was browsing around eBay looking at Airfix 1:32 cars; they might be a touch overscale but I’m not averse to using them amongst my 1:35 efforts.
Anyway, by extension I stumbled across this resin model, designed for the slot racing community. It’s a model of an Austin 1800 saloon car, used by the British Army extensively throughout the 70s (and possibly beyond – I don’t quite know). They were designated Staff Car Grade 2 I think, and their use was pretty widespread across the three armed services. As was mentioned on a recent thread re Military Police vehicles, apparently they were also used by the Royal Military Police.
So, gloss Bronze Green finish, chrome trim, formation signs, star plates etc to taste.
Now, whether or not I’m clever enough to convert it all into something recognisable, I don’t know. Wheels might be a problem (let alone a discernible chassis to fit them to!) and somehow I’ll have to scratch an interior. Thankfully, it comes with some glazing.
There’s nothing like a challenge!
This has to be one of the worst colorizing of a B&W photo I’ve seen in ages… the guys torso is purple for crying out loud!
An order arrived from Germany
Mainly continuing with the AA theme.
