Do you have any idea how “compatible” this is with the Trumpeter 02307?
I got the same kit and I was wondering if the Friulmodel ATL-109 tracks and wheels can be used here as well?
I don’t have the Trumpeter kit, one of my friends in my club built it. So I can’t tell you if Trumpeter parts fit the Zvezda kit. I sure hope the Friul tracks fit the Zvezda kit, because I have a set.
So, as I scored some Modelkasten tracks on my club for good money,
Today the heavy Japanese Panzers arrived from the land with the rising sun.
Now it is clear why they fit on a Sherman
That Type 94 is a very cool little kit! It really packs a lot of detail into a little tankette! It’s a gem of a model. Best of luck to you with those Modelkasten tracks. They are do-able with tweezers, a good straightedge, and a magnifier.
Lucky you …
Were they really that bad? To me, they looked okay for 1990s models. Not great. Okay. Never built one, though.
Rest assured that you are better off like this
The Spojnia 7TP kit is a true turd in a box. Even Steve Zaloga almost gave up on it. Spojnia owned the molds, but didn’t have production facilities, so they rented a machine in a Polish injection molding factory that made plastic lamps, among other things. Whatever color plastic they were running that day was what they molded the Spojnia kits in, so the 7TP came in black, blue, green, and pink. There was no QC, so there were short shots and entire warped sprues galore. Even if you got a “perfect” molding, none of the parts fit, remember Steve Zaloga could barely make it fit. Everybody was super excited to have this kit come out and we all bought one, sight unseen. But then when we got the report from Steve…there was no joy in Mudville that day. Nobody even tried to build their copy. None showed up on the show tables, anywhere. Aber produced a 4 sheet PE set for it that replaced most of the kit but nobody tried it. I still have a Spojnia 7TP kit somewhere in the bottom of my stash. It would be unfair of me to put it on the club table and unload it on some unsuspecting youth who just sees the $5 price tag. It is truly a sad POS of modeling history that is better off left alone. Yes, they were really that bad. Interesting story, though.
Was it in Port Novo map by any chance?
Here is the whole list of descendants of that Spójnia kit.
I managed to get Mirage 35302 and Mastercraft 3501, ScaleMates writes ‘new parts’ for some of the boxings but I don’t know if they improved any of the original parts or if it was only additions.
Wow. Okay. I did not know any of that. When I came into contact with the model, it was produced by Mirage Hobby. I vaguely remember seeing a few built up examples on the internet and really wanting one because it is Polish and has two turrets. Knowing my tastes (even back then), the vinyl tracks must have caused me to hesitate. Bullet dodged.
If the twin turret version turns out okay, I will also seek out the the IBG single turret version. (Hoping IBG turns out to be a good company, in general.) Not really sure what else the Poles used in 1939 so 7TPs for now.
@Uncle-Heavy For some reason, I thought Mirage Hobby was French. Is that right? Did Spójnia become Mirage Hobby? For a model that sucks, Mirage Hobby sure released a lot of variants.
Names can be misleading …
Mirage is from Poland.
Poland also used TK tankettes in large numbers. IBG makes two variants of the TK that are pretty new and very nice kits with interiors.
@Uncle-Heavy And there is the Mirage 7TP for sale. Along with…paint by numbers? Huh. Kinda strange combination. And there are the Mirage 7TPs on eBay. Kinda want to buy and build one just because it is so bad. Isn’t that funny?
@SSGToms Ooooh! Thank you! Now I understand what happened. Having not looked at these vehicles in many years, I conflated the 7TP with the TKS! That is why the large size of the 7TP really surprised me. Also, maybe it was the Mirage Hobby TKS I wanted? Maybe that was a better model with plastic tracks?
The IBG TKS is another must have. I need to sell some stuff to make room or build a whole lot faster.
…
A sincere thanks to both of you. The information and links you both provide on a regular basis are always super useful.
No you don’t.
Build the IBG kits instead.
I have all of the Mirage TKS’s (started but not finished of course …).
They are prime examples of mixed quality from the 90’s.
The fighting compartment shell is OK, I cast some copies of it (a 6-in-1 boxing where I only needed one or two extra “casemates” to build all 6 variants). The tracks have tiny openings and most are closed by flash.
Unless you absolutely LOVE to clean flash from itsy-bitsy teeny-tiny holes in umpteen track links you may want to stay away from the old TKS kits.
Some climb Mount Everest, some others aim to prove something by finishing one of these old TKS kits.
I don’t like cold or snow so I will try to finish those TKS’es … although the view from the top is spectacular … hmmmm …
and a pair of eagle eyes?
Thanks for the replay. I’ve been knocked out by a pesky PT-76 in that map and for a second I thought it was you
I was knocked out on the sea wall near where you entered the water. My poor Nashorn became a Nashgone thanks to the HEAT FS it met
Okay. You’re right. Don’t want to crash and burn on another problematic old model.
Found one cheap at Squadron and ordered it.
