Who did you order from?

Arrived today courtesy of FoxHopp, who are very efficient. I needed 3 x identical drums for a T-80 project and I’d previously buggered up some Panzer Art versions when trying to saw them off the resin carriers. Perversely perhaps, FoxHopp market these as “seam free”, when belatedly, Cold War modellers have discovered that such fuel drums did have a seam. Oh well, time for the stretched sprue methinks. Anyway, nicely produced and will look great on my T-80 I’m sure.

There’s also a GPMG amongst the drums - for another project.

I picked up some SLRs from them as well

They look pretty good; previously I’ve been labouring with the old Italeri set:

which I find quite useful for Cold War era stuff, and reasonably priced.

The SLR was a beast to me - when one is relatively small-framed; I’m sure I moved back around a foot every time I squeezed the trigger!

Latest stuff from MR Modellbau.

Try carrying the 84mm, when it’s stood up on end, it is level with my nose:wink::joy: and yes, the SLR did feel like it moved you back a foot.

I’m sorry, but if the 84 weighs more than my typewriter (7.7kg since you ask) - no way!

Picked up a couple of things for my VN collection. Wayne

The weight 31lb, or around 14 kg, for the 84mm. More awkward to carry then anything

As they say, stuff that for a game of soldiers. Actually, was it any good? Could it see off, say, a Sov MBT? Assuming one had time to fire it amidst changing one’s trousers.

Mike, what became of the 1/35 USATC S-160 you were working on?

I’m surprised nobody has come out with US prototype freight cars.

Got a birthday giftcard to David Doyle Books and picked up these Tankograd Titles because of my current focus (obsession?) with Cold War American Armor. As far as I am concerned Tankograd has got the best reference/source material out there right now and they keep pumping out titles. The weakest of the 4 is U.S. Army Germany 1945-1969 but it’s still pretty good. The other 3 are simply outstanding. I gave them a once over today when I opened the package and will go over them more in depth tonight when I settle in and end the day. Fantastic marking references and dozens and dozens of pics I’ve never seen before. M56 Scorpion in Europe, M103 Heavy Tank, M59 and M75 APCs, artillery and SPGs, softskins if that’s your thing, more M48 and M60 pics than you can shake a stick at, a bunch of fuel tank rack photos on M48s and M103 (those are always good to find) etc etc.

Highly Recommended!

Nice collection.

Whats the tank on the cover of Nuclear Winter FTX? Looks cool.

I concur! It was the discovery of the 90mm Scorpion in Germany that drove me to get the Hobby Fan resin kit of the beast. Definitely not cheap, or even widely available. I’ve also recently acquired the M75 and the M59 though I haven’t done much to them just yet.

These books are just great for Cold War modelling inspiration I feel.

Incidentally the cover of the Nuclear winter book depicts an M103A1 heavy tank.
