What the postman brought today (Armorama)

A top up from Perfect Scale Modellbau:

Obviously you can’t discern the white letters decals in this pic, but they contain the letters “MP” together which means I do not have to struggle painting them on armbands, which is a project coming up soon. Not only is it convenient, but I would find it hard to paint those letter freehand.

One of the gun barrels is destined for a Canadian Rent-a-Panzer, and the other, well, for anyone of my Leopards in the stash!

And the black stars? Obviously a MASSTER project some time, just not sure when.

This is turning into a good day; a second delivery:

Nothing quite like a resin challenge! But such an interesting vehicle.

Sigh! I wanted to do that guntruck a while back, but at that time Trumpie hadn’t issued that kit. So I bought (another) plain Jane MTVR and the Black Dog? guntruck conversion set. They’re both sitting among the stash as I’m not into my OIF phase yet. Depending on the BD set’s quality I’ll probably sell them on and buy the Trumpeter version.

Cheers

Nice! Looks like a Jagdpanther and a bread van met one moonlit evening!

A cautionary tale. I did a very stupid thing.

These came today. Ak Interactive just came out with the book on the left. I wanted it very much. It was only 10.53€, an easy purchase. Then I find out that AK has a 12€ minimum. So I go around looking at books and find the book on the right. Very useful. 28.80€. Not too bad. Then, to the US, AK only uses DHL. No other choice. 25€. So I winced and checked out. Then 2 days later I get an email that my package has cleared customs and the tariff is $27.23 (23.90€) Making for a grand total of 88.23€, or $100.52!!! All for a $10 book! Never again. Then to add insult to injury, I find out that Amazon carries AK books, and I could have gotten my $10 book with free shipping! I feel sick.

Ouch. That’s a tough learning curve.

What do you think about the book?

Yikes. :grimacing:

The book itself is totally worth 10€. It covers everything from oil paint production to techniques on application, figures, replicating wood, panel lining, washes, filters, grease, dirt, dust, streaking, rust, mud, and groundwork. All copiously illustrated and easy to follow. Highly recommended.

Thanks for the feedback; I’ve grown very wary of AK Learning series books. Glad this one is good, especially since I’m starting to play around with oils. Might be worth buying!

I’m also considering the one from Ammo

Just order it from Amazon, not AK!

Maybe it’s too new.

The latest Learning book on Oils was only released by AK this month, so that is correct, probably too new to make it to Amazon or their dealers yet.
