What the postman brought today (Armorama)

Nice haul, Matthew! It’s really a big boy …

Something different arrived for me today. Special decals of the German Technisches Hilfswerk (THW) and some 3 mm LED Blue … :slightly_smiling_face:

… to convert this …

… into this … :slightly_smiling_face:
MAN-7to-Kipper-THW

The decal sheet holds all needed decals for this truck, including the special number plates and the LED are for the blue flashing lights. For everyone who is not familiar with the THW. It’s a german disaster control organisation, which can also operate world wide, like after an earth quake. At the moment they are heavy in use here in the western part of Germany together with the Bundeswehr and fire fighters because of the flood catastrophy we had 2 weeks ago due to very heavy rain over days.

Very nice Torsten! That will be very eye-catching with the LEDs!

Are you going to light up the LED’s too?

Thanks! No, the LED will just be for static display. These trucks have also 4 sirens on the roof. I better keep them silent …

I need one of the mk VII added to my list .
How are the afv tracks?

I have never used echelon decals but I may need to now

I have built several different Maz chassis variants and love them all . It is one of my favs.

That will be epic

They have an extensive product line… very much worth looking into.

Did the THW replace the impressively named Katastrophenscutze?

The new mk. VII kit with the engine? I have a mk. III on the way due any day now.

The tracks look good, nicely detailed and moulded. They are just going to be used for applique armour though.

You and me both Freddie. After seeing Olivier’s build this is on my list too. Enjoy.

I’m curious about the trend in modern AFV’s having the gun barrel shrouded in a perforated jacket or sleeve, any ideas?

As far as I am aware it’s to dissipate heat and maintain accuracy. They help maintain a more consistent temperature preventing one side from getting hotter which bends the barrel slightly to the colder side

Ah, I didn’t consider it replaceing the thermal jacket. A much more battle hardy solution I’m sure. Thanks!

Yeah as far as I know they provide the same function, and as you state are probably more durable; and the most important function, they look bada**

No, they are part of it, like fire brigades and the German Red Cross.

Because of @Goalkeeper build T-34 w/zpu-1

Had this Gecko Models ‘WWII US 20L Jerry Can Set (Value Pack)’ on my radar since it was announced several months ago. I was finally able to order the set from Scale Hobbyist when they notified me of availability. Note: They seem to go into backorder on a regular basis.

See Darron Baker’s review: WWII US 20L Jerry Can Set (Value Pack)

Looking pretty good on this side of the pond! :fuelpump:

After building my Flakpanzer 1A i have become fairly interested in german vehicles toting flak guns. Ive also always had an interst in german half tracks. My most recent ebay win filled both those voids!

Had to balance out all the wingy things I bought recently
