Jesper,
My apologies are surely in order to you. I should have said as far as I can remember seeing one here. I’m not to sure when i actually 1st came over from Aeroscale, but I do think it was shortly after your build.
In any event, the good news is that you’ve shared your beautiful build photo of your Hudson. I’d say that D has a pretty high bar to match with his up coming build.
Paints needed for the Ducati 888 kit. I decided to get the rattle can of Tamiya X-7 to see how it worked on my 1/20 Alfa Romeo Brabham BT46. It’s been 45 years since I used a spray can. Luckily the weather is good enough to use it outdoors since it is lacquer paint.
Perhaps we should start a new thread for Bizarre Model Production Catastrophes! I certainly found a contender for inclusion when I took the photos for my review of the Moebius Chrysler 300…
I should start off by stating that the kit is really impressive overall - cleanly moulded and boasting plenty of detail - but what seems to be my current jinx with clear parts has struck again! In this instance, when the runners were being bagged for protection in transit, they got snagged in the heat-sealer!
It’s definitely the oddest packaging accident I’ve come across and, sadly, the result is pretty much unfixable. The scar is too deep to sand and polish out, and any sort of clear filler will stand out like a sore thumb because of internal reflections:
Thankfully, Moebius have responded promptly to my request for a replacement part (it’s always good to be able to report that a company monitors its contact service), so keep an eye open for the review once it arrives.
Well that definitely a first seeing the parts sealed along with the bag, nice to know Moebius are on the case.
Speaking of Bizarre Model Production Catastrophes, I opened the box of the Heller Renault R8 Gordini, and found this -
Now I know there isn’t a lot of parts in the kit, but you would have thought there would be a few more then this, as sprues A, B and D are all missing .
I have contacted Heller, and am waiting for a reply.
Andy
Hi Joel,
Yep the kit was shrinked wrapped. I must admit I did a double take when I opened it, thinking there must be more to this kit then a sprue of clear parts, 1 sprue of chrome parts, a sprue of rubber parts and the body shell .
As you can imagine its not really buildable in the current state .
Andy
Let’s run with us as the Kitmaker Family, 2 for Rowan and 1 for Andy means we’ve had our 3 now!
Thanks for taking the hits for the team guys! Definitely some unusual manufacturing and packaging events there, hopefully, Moebius and Heller respond as well as Dora Wings did for you Rowan.
Hi,
Lucky I’m not in a rush to build this kit then .
Thanks for the heads up though, I shall contact Hiroboy (who I bought it off) as well and let them know.
Andy
