What to do with Airfix Ferret kit?

Thought it might have been the AK book- I have it too- some cool vehicles in it. Best of luck with your build.

@Maximus8425 Is that really a Ferret? I have never seen it before. That definitely goes onto the Want List.

@AfvAficionado Thank you for posting those pictures. Does anyone make decals for New Zealand ferrets in that camouflage scheme?

Hi Damraska
I think David Waters posted them on the old forum, but they needed airing again.
I’ve not found any, though I tend to stick to 1/16th

Apparently so, the wheel rims and hubs are certainly the same and you can just see the front spring which looks the same. The following link gives a bit more info but the picture is atrocious.

I hope we see someone build this kit with the new AM accessories that are available.

@AfvAficionado Once again, thank you for posting those pictures! While decals may not be available and the source book is out of print, the profile pictures probably contain everything needed to create markings in Inkscape.

@Maximus8425 Thank you for that additional information! That made it much easier to hunt down more pictures. It looks like something out of a science fiction movie.

Why not print your own decals? It would be fairly straightforward as nearly everything is coloured. When I get all of the bits for my Ferret just about every decal will need to be printed so I can build my very first signed for vehicle. Use white decal paper and after printing, once they have dried spray a clear coat over them which seals the inks.
Thought I’d update this a little with pics of the decals I plan to print. RAC colours with unit, 15th/19th Hussars cap badge for the front of the turret. Vehicle registration number and Episkopi Garrison shield which once printed will be cut to the shape of the red shield. The sizes will not be as shown here as a little trial and error when printing will decide their final dimensions.

Good thought, did that years ago on a ship model. Though given Ferret hasn’t been done in1/16th - that I know of - not urgent.

Looking at that Ferret with RCL, I have doubts about its viability.
With the RCL mounted so high, that’s gotta affect the C of G adversely, and how much 106mm ammo would fit in a Ferret - 1-3 rounds would be my guess, 1 of those up the spout?

Interesting that each of the mountings look to be different

Just be aware when you use solid White Decal sheet, when you cut it out it will have a white border (the thickness of the decal sheet) around it, so plan on dealing with it or even taking advantage of it.
