Winter Sherman

I have to paint one dead German paratrooper before my Sherman is finished.

Finished this project this evening. I could probably have done a lot more, but the whole purpose was basically to practice whitewash. Then I thought it was a good idea to add the figures and finally build a «Bastogne base» for the tank. That included some fir trees and learning to make those. I used a YouTube movie as reference and took it from there. Next time I make some I will use thinner fibres. On the bright side the fir trees are solid as concrete. The kit itself is typical Tamiya and I will highly recommend it for beginners. The more experienced modeller will probably want a more detailed kit. Summerized I´m happy about how it turned out. I reached my goals about learning some new techniques.

That ended up a really well planned and finished scene Erik. The faded white wash looks just right, the ground work blends in with everything and the stowage is well done and nicely scaled rope to secure it all on the rear decks. Super build.

Outstanding result Eric! Your whitewash experiment came out perfect, it looks just right. The stowage looks excellent, nice tones and shading. The figures are well painted and fit the scene perfectly. The diorama base looks fantastic, the snow looks real, the trees are great, but oh poor Fritz!
