Workbench Wednesday

Thought I would start a new thread where I’ll try and post some sort of scale model content every Wednesday.

22Nov23
A fist full of halftracks! Had these kits for awhile and wanted to build them as a trio…so what better time then now to start them. The original plan was OotB, but that didn’t last long.

Thanks for stopping by and check back next week to see what’s happing on the ol workbench!

Nice. I need a set of those for a Tamiya M16 MGC I have on the stash. :+1:

Looks like half track Wednesday for a little bit. Probably someway to work in hump day and half track, that was the best I could do.

I think that could be a good thread to start… “Half-track Wednesdays”.

Kind of the same as this thread.

Not really, that is a generic thread for all users to post what they are working on and this is for what is Sgt Rocks projects.

Wow ! Finally some FC Modeltrend in the flesh as it were. What do you think of them ?

They look pretty good and a heap better than the Tamiya kit parts … I used FC exhaust elbows on my Chieftain stillbrew and they were perfect, however, I have heard a few bad stories from some chaps in here…I personally would use them again…

I ordered 6 items from FC Modeltrend and when I got them they all went straight into the bin. They were inaccurate and the finish was like they were made of sand. I’m very curious to see / hear how these track sets are.

I ordered one thing from them: wheels for my Austin armored car, but there were only 4 wheels in the package. The version I build has 6 (double rear wheels). When I mailed them, I got a no from them:
Dear Erik (sic, reading is hard!)

Unfortunately the wheels are printed in a whole set and can’t be sold separately.

These wheels are printed in sets of 2, so adding an extra set would hardly be a problem, IMHO.
Needles to say I didn’t use them…

Nice to see you back Eric.

Nice trio you have going.

FC Modeltrend are hit and miss. I bought their British aerial bases and they are very good. Their set for an Australian Stuart is also good.

However, I got their Nagmachon chains and they were all but useless. The chain is not moulded as loops and flexible, but as a single perfectly straight brittle piece. I ended carefully cutting out the chain from the shackle ends and used my own chain with the shackles.

Their set for the Tamiya Horch is wrong for a 1A and the seats are completely the wrong shape and size. Their two headlight sets I have seen both had separate lenses, but in grey resin, not clear!
