Wow! All these great looking figures keep showing up and motivating me towards my goal.
As far as my Alpine US GI vignette, I’d say it’s about 90% complete. You should see my wet palette puddle accumulations. However, I continue to struggle with figure blending, as my eye and camera just refuse to play nice together. … Oh well, guess I’ll “save face” for another time and proceed with two more pending details.
This is interesting, how would this campaign work? I’m new to the concept, could someone explain how they work in general, and how that would apply to this idea?
Some great figure work going on here.
Those conversions in mini scale look really good @G-man69 , they will fit in great in the boat and the other planned places. I really should start doing something on mine …
Welcome aboard the campaign. For this one, any figure works. It could be a spare, it could be a figure added to another campaign build vehicle. Doesn’t even have to be human.
I think that is more for at the beginning to see who might be interested etc….at this point at least for me I am only tracking who says and posts a completed figure for a campaign ribbon weather you click the button or not.
Alright, with spring break being next week, i might be able to get started soon! I have a small variety of German soldiers to choose from, as i am not using them for my Sdkfz. 251/8.
@ RoguePilot. Welcome aboard! You’ve found a fine campaign. Looking forward to your work.
Hi guys. I took another stab at the Alpine US GI — much better than previous efforts. Finally have a method — only took seven hours and approx. fifteen colors to get here! Think I can live with this for now. I’ve got Sergeant stripes on order from Archer Fine Transfers. I ain’t painting those!
Thanks! I have only painted two figures before, and they were only waist-up at that, so this will be very interesting to do.
Are there any good figure tutorials/guides that I should watch/read? I am familiar with NightShift’s videos on figures, but would like to know more.
Hi there Roguepilot, just remember, everyone, including the Grandmasters and the Gold medal winners started in the same position that you’re in now. The more you practice and learn, the better you get! That’s why we’re all here. Looking forward to seeing your stuff.
G.
I’m basically in the same boat as you. I’ve only ever painted a handful of figures and have never really been happy with them.
Until I saw Martin paint that figure on his AMX-50.
I know it’s not a pioneering technique on his part by any means, but the zenithal highlights have given me the most consistent and satisfying results so far. It’s also very forgiving as it gives you lots of time to add layers and really see what the paint is doing
I know you don’t have an airbrush at the moment, but with a little care you could accomplish the same thing with spray cans. I found the black/white too stark so went with a brown/cream.
