WW2 Allied Convoy rolling from Bovington to Dorchester

An amazing display of wheels and tracks. Gotta hand it to the Brits, they love their Allied vehicles.

After a slight map reading error they were last reported as being twelve miles inside Kursk Oblast…

P.S. Less numerous but impressive in it’s own way, this from 2018:

Damn impressive! Most WW2 period vehicles I’ve seen in one modern film!

Hmmmm… Shermans vs. T-72?

Much the same as Shermans vs. King Tigers, overmatched is overmatched full stop, not a spectrum. :grinning: Although just now it would be more like Shermans vs. weaponised Mobility Scooters! I never thought I’d see Challengers on Russian soil…

Nor Leopard 2… And that just 80 years after Operation Zitadelle.

Interesting. All but a handful were American vehicles.

I loved the batch of Harley WLAs up front.

I think the tanks were an M4A2(75), and M4A1E8, a Sexton SPG and a 16 pdr Achilles, and an M4A3.

The M4 High Speed tractor was a beauty.

lol ! That would be interesting to say the least!

Wow that was fantastic! That’s amazing that they got those vehicles to running condition. Great video!

If you mean the one I posted a link to, I was pretty blown away when I first saw it. I’ve always toyed with the idea of doing some “Steampunk goes to War” stuff, and that must be the closest to real-life 1-to-1 scale any of us are ever likely to see…

Yes that’s the one. Are there any WW1 British trucks out there in 1/35 scale?

At the 2:29 mark, you can see a Mack NO6 7 1/2 ton Prime Mover, pulling a 155mm M1 “Long Tom” field gun. The Mack NO6 has been thoroughly discussed here and beautifully built.

I must admit I’ve not looked for any from the resin specialists, but ICM do a couple of FWD Model Bs. Unfortunately they are both metal-bodied US versions. The 2,925 British-bought versions arrived in Liverpool without bodies, which were UK-built as required; I believe the bulk were the wooden General Service type. If you fancy the ICM item buy the new Ammunition Carrier, it’s the earlier kit but with an additional frame of parts so you can build the standard truck (download the instructions from the ICM website) but with the solid disc wheels.

Thank you Tom I’ll probably do that, there are also many WW1 British figures out there so I see a vignette or diorama in my future….

That was very impressive to watch. In hindsight I should have planned a trip to Normandy this past summer.
