Yakuza Automobiles

I read that Japanese gangsters use American cars. Any old American cars, or specific ones?

Probably larger American sedans, like Cadillacs or Chevys. I don’t really know, but that’s my uneducated assumption.

What prompted me to ask this in the first place was that I saw the 1966 movie “Tokyo Drifter.”

Back in the Post WW2 era, Yakuza always say larger American vehicles as symbols of their strength. But nowadays, with problems, like fuel prices, importation laws and whatnot. They’ve turned to more “typical” cars, like BMWs, Benz and the like.

But the car culture in Japan is deep, and you will see a lot of American made muscle, both vintage as well as modern, being represented. like Mustangs, Camaros, Challengers and Chargers.
