I’ll make them fit if I have to. I want to use one of the guys in the hatches, sort of as a commander or gunner. I’m not sure yet, but I’ll see what I can do. I will also use Diorama Devil’s video about modifying figures if I really have to. I plan on using one on my StuG III.
For some reason, the set includes a bunch of accessories, such as extra rifles, MP-30s, a map case, etc…
I finished gluing. Tamiya figure’s fit is outstandingly excellent.
I still need to wash and prime it.
I added epoxy and rectangles to the jacket pouches to denote two stowed magazines. I hope that this turns out after priming as I might have to sand down the putty edges. With the jacket magazines, it will give this figure 90 5.56mm rounds, including the 30-round clip on the HK416.
Question: Should I sand around the putty rectangles and just leave the rectangles, or do stowed magazines pull that the leather of the jacket and create a raised area around the magazines as my putty sculpting shows? I am not sure how realistic magazines inside jackets appear to bulge out.
I really enjoyed assembling Tamiya’s figures in the latest Kettenkrad tooling. They really need to mark which figures are made like that because the locator tabs/pins/blocks really helped with the positioning!
Time to catch up with everyone’s builds. Great work being done…inspirational.
Karl187, thanks for the compliment. Yes, using complimentary colors adds impact.
phil2015, your figure is progressing nicely. I love the gasmask on him.
CKPlasticModels, your paintwork is fantastic. Very realistic.
john41492, cool set of figures for the campaign. Have fun.
Striker, great figure for the campaign. Tamiya has really improved their figure sculpting.
CKPlasticModels, nice switch-up with your 2nd entry.
phantom_phanatic, awesome figure. They had some crazy ideas for protection back then.
RonW, great job on the Tiger crew. A very realistic display.
Trisaw, nice modification to your figure. Maybe do a little sanding to blend it in more to the jacket.
All for now, fellow modelers. Keep busy and always have fun.

Update time for my Space Ork. I kind of went down a rabbit hole that didn’t pay off. More on that below. Great work being done here by everyone. Very diverse.
Added some elevation with cork layers. I wanted to show the size difference between humans and orks(I used some smaller figs from my spares for the humans).
Final painting on my laser canon. I never put the Ork with the canon, and when I did it junked up the scene composition. So, the canon had to exit the scene.
Primed and preshaded with Mr. Surfacer 1500 Black and Tamiya Flat White. The 1/12 Little Armory Custom HK416D (amazing gem of a weapon kit with excellent snap-tight fit) was primed with Mr. Surfacer 1500 Black.
This is the first time I ever preshaded a 1/12 figure with spray cans. I learned that the mist of a Tamiya spray can isn’t fine enough so I recommend using Mr. Surfacer 1500 White primer.
I sanded down the putty pockets to be more flush with the wrinkles of the jacket.
I don’t know if I will airbrush or handpaint this figure as I never painted a large preshaded figure before.
Objective goal: USSOCOM Delta Force bodyguard in civilian clothing with magazines and gear in jacket pockets.
As I’ve mentioned in response to another campaigners post I have really been struggling with motivation for this project.
I get this the odd time as I suspect plenty of other modellers do too. The options never seem particularly appealing either- stick with it even though you don’t want to, put it away for a re-try or bin it.
For this I decided (eventually) to stick with it but my enthusiasm was gone and it was mostly a matter of finishing it before I resorted to one of the other options!
So its not great and I can’t say I’m all that happy with it but what I am sort of pleased with is that I didn’t bail on it and finished it.
Well that’s my entry finished! Now I just want to say congrats and well done to everyone else who has finished thus far and wish the best of luck to those still working on their pieces.
I am going to give this a shot. I bought it for my wife as she grew up on the Carter Wonder Woman and loves the character in general. Other than the random figure for an airplane or military vehicle in smaller scales, this will be my first attempt at a figure build and of course I am starting out with a very recognizable and female character, so no pressure on me to do a decent job.
No guarantee I can finish by January but I am going to give it a good try. I have been watching a number of videos on painting faces, especially female ones, and have developed a plan of attack for assembly. I think if I paint it as if it is the colored illustration depicted on the box rather than try to make it look true-to-life I might fare better. If my wife wants it lifelike then she is going to have to settle for the Gal Gadot poster she has hanging on her classroom wall.
Here are the two figures I’ll be entering for this campaign. They are from Tamiya’s M1A2 SEP TUSK II kit, which I built earlier this year. I had put the figures aside to build “later” (like I always do), but I think this campaign will give me the motivation to actually follow through. I’ll be using ACU camo decals from Shinsengumi and Cross Delta. Otherwise, they will be OOB.
Hey fellow modelers. It’s time to catch up with everyone’s great projects. Lots of wonderful builds done and underway.
Trisaw, good job on your Bodyguard figure. Cool HK gun. The ammo stuffed pockets look great…nicely blended into the jacket.
Karl187, great job on your finished figure duo. Hey, motivation and time are illusive things. Mojo dictates.
amoz02t, cool job on your Russian MG gunner. I like the awesome camouflage scheme you did on it.
brekinapez, Wow!! Wonder Woman!!! It’s awesome to see a popular culture figure being done. It will make a nice gift for your Wife.
DeskJockey, tanks always look better with crew figures. Good luck on your project. Decals for the camo pattern…interesting.
That’s all for now. Great stuff being done here on the campaign.
