Currently working on the Academy AH-1Z with a full suite of aftermarket parts (if it exists, I’ve probably got it) to build up a Czech Air Force example using the CAVU decals.
Have spent the past few weeks making the cockpit more accurate and adding in / replacing much of the avionics boxes, rivets, connectors etc.
Almost done with the cockpit now, but need to add in some patterning on the seats, add in fabric belts, and add missing fuse switches on the panel next to the rear seater.
Made progress to finish the cockpit (minus the seats - these still need the fabric texturing and fabric belts made). Added the circuit breaker panel using Anyz switches and decals, hoses, etc.
Then opened up the vents in the APU compartment, oil cooler compartment, etc.
Now scratch-building the T-62-T40-1 APU which I suspect will be barely visible!
The APU / doghouse avionics insert is now complete and ready to slot it place. Also made the oil cooler and associated blower that is visible from the ventral vents. Almost ready to close up the two fuselage halves!
M197 cannon (3D printed from Simone Plai, plus metal barrels from DEF model) with removable side panels completed. I’ve got 1mm neodymium magnets holding the panels in place, it looks great with the extra detail showing.
Finished up internal wiring for the canopy, I think these wires are for the canopy charges. Once the canopy is mounted I’ll connect the wiring on the side pillars to loose wires on the side of the pilots instrument panel coming. We also need to connect two of the wires to the open doors which will be fixed on after painting the fuselage.
Slow progress as I’ve started working on the 1/35 ICM AH-1G in parallel - quite fun having two very different eras of the same fundamental helo side by side!
