@18bravo @twong Thank you very much! Finally, a more realistic MCD.
The Meng M3A3 kit is here. Not sure when I will start it but I will more than likely start this one along with the Tamiya M2A2 ODS at the same time, whenever that will be. I already had the Tamiya kit from a while ago. The Meng M3A3 will be done as an M3A2 ODS.
Nice. You will be very impressed by the level of detail of the Meng kit over Tamiya’s.
Thanks! I just looked over the Meng kit to make sure all the parts were there and noticed the Meng kit was quite nice. It does look a bit more refined over the Tamiya kit from a quick glance.
Can anyone ID the type of these Bradleys?
I got the images from this PDF. It just says M2’s of TF 1-63. The images are on page 8 & 9.
Also looking for the ID type of this one as well.
Image is from this Wiki link.
All the ones above are M2A2 ODS Bradleys.
The first 2 pics look to be a new build since it has the extra lifting/shackle points on the final drives and one-piece lower front glacis plates. The Academy M2A2 Bradley “Iraq 2003” kit has new-build features.
The last one is a rebuild M2A2 ODS with the old-style, multi-part lower front glacis plate. This is what is in the Tamiya M2A2 ODS kit. It may be an M3A2 ODS as I think I see a periscope on the side of the TOW reload hatch on the rear deck.
Thanks! Great info!
Is the Academy M2A2 Iraq 2003 kit correct to make the ones in the first two images? Does the Academy kit have the correct front turret armor as well for the parts pointed out below. They are covered by the camo netting in the two images I posted above and I can’t make it out.
The Academy kit has the correct turret armor. The Tamiya kit has turret CIPs over the armor, not a different type of armor.
Thanks again!
Just realized, this particular M2A2 ODS has a different rear hatch cover. It has the vision block on the hatch cover. Looks similar to the one on the M3A3 but without the extra armor.
I’m building that very vehicle. That’s why I’m doing it as an M3A2. I thought you had seen this thread since we had talked about removing that armor from your kit.
Yes, I am doing that same vehicle. I was originally using the Tamiya kit. Will the Tamiya kit still work for that version? I would just need to change the rear hatch cover or is there more to it than that? I originally thought it was an M2A2 ODS as that is what the original caption said from the page I saved the image from.
I also wanted to do this one as well with the BUSK ERA. This is the one I was going to use the Meng M3A3 kit for to backdate to the M3A2 as in the image below. So, for this one and the other two images posted below, do I still remove the upper hull and upper turret armor? Is the Meng M3A3 doghouse the same as the one in these images or do I need to change that too?
The M3A2 ODS TOW reload hatch is the same as the M3A3 hatch. Both have the added armor You can swap the Meng one and be good.
Thanks!
Thanks!
So all M3A2 ODS versions have that dog house? Do any other kits include that older style dog house besides the Tamiya M2A2 ODS and Academy M2A2 Iraq 2003 kits? The dog house on the Academy M2A2 Iraq 2003, Tamiya M2A2 and M2A2 ODS kits are molded to the turret…The front cover and other parts are different between the two Tamiya kits. The Academy M2A2 Iraq 2003 kit has the same dog house as the Tamiya M2A2 ODS kit. The one you showed is on the Tamiya M2A2 ODS kit parts tree F. Unfortunately, Tamiya discontinued those kits so no parts available from their customer service. Is there an aftermarket dog house available?
They’re easy enough to remove. I’ll send you one.
Thanks! Greatly appreciated!
Can someone please help ID the type of this Bradley? Is it an M2A3 or M3A3? Is that the CITV on the left of the image next to the commander’s ballistic shield and just above the turret ERA? Looks a bit low to be the CITV.
A2. If in doubt when you can’t see the CITV, look to the doghouse. Additional cover = A2.
