Hi Rus,

From what I can see comparing the pictures of the3d printed funnels with the kit and the Atlantic models parts, the 3d printed parts look to me to be a very noticable improvement on the kit parts. certainly worth the effort considering all the effort you are putting into the rest of the build.

Yes.

Not my scale so I have no personal interest in this,
BUT,
the kit funnels just look very wrong with the almost flat front,
almost as if they are triangles with rounded corners.
Misshapen to put it politely …
The base is only wrong if one knows what the real Tribals looked like,
for those who do know it would be an eyesore.

Really nice work with that decking Russ. Very neatly done and looks great. 3D funnels look better IMO.

'Morning Russell,

Beautiful work on the hull, and the funnels look great. PM sent to you.

Nice work on that bow, Russ, the original flat kit rendition would have been ugly indeed. As for the funnels, I agree with the others - hell yes it is worth the trouble! The improvement is subtle and will only be noticeable to ship model geeks like us, but we’ll all appreciate the upgrade very much!

Hi Everyone,

After having a good look at the printed parts, I think I am going to get them printed at a higher resolution. Additionally, I’ll tweak a few details give them a better definition once printed… Watch this space… :cowboy_hat_face:

Fellow styrene handlers…

Probably the last update before Christmas…

I think the newly printed funnels are much better at the higher print resolution…

Russell, that’s a lot of extra work you put in that ship. I’m impressed! :open_mouth:

Thanks Torsten… Just a bit of good old fashioned “model making” with some styrene sheet and some filing and filling…

The funnels are probably a bit extreme, but since I’m going to the trouble to correct the deck and hull I might as well correct the funnels as well :sunglasses:

Hi Russ,

Excellent job on the bow, great start onthe work on the underside of the hull down aft looks a good start, great fan of the old masking tape to define the edge of the fix, saves a lot of cleaning up.

Loking forward to the next update.

Cheers, :beers:  :+1: Si

Some clean and neat work on the pointy end … it has been blended in very well. Good solid research on the blunt end , adds to the realism of it. And the new funnels do look better with the adjustments you’ve made, … Nice work as always.
