2025 campaign ideas

Some neat campaign proposals already in the staging area. Here’s a thread for tossing out ideas.

i’ve been thinking about Mesopotamia lately. Currentish, WW2, WW1, and right on back to Cyrus…

well since next year is 2025, you have the anniversary of the fall of Berlin/end of WW2 in 1945 and 20 years later the start of the Vietnam war, then 1975. the fall of Saigon/the end of the Vietnam war.

so there are two options there with a wide scope as well as all genres.

kind regards

Klaus

For those who have not yet seen it there is the Veterans Tribute Campaign. Lots of leeway there.

We haven’t had an M113 campaign yet. Everyone could get in on that one.

i rather like the sound of an M113 and all it’s variants as I’m wanting use my hobby fan ARVN figures.
I think you should flesh that out as soon as possible and put it up in the staging area.

I’d join an M113 campaign. I do not know much about them other than they are the APC of my youth.

My first thought was a 1/16 campaign starting Dec/Jan when kit has arrived at Andy’s and shipped out but a more global, any scale and variant/family of 113 would have more mass appeal to the members.

After the “B25 in 24” campagne I was kinda expecting a “B24 in 25” version…

I like the idea of a larger scale campaign, 1/16 scale and larger. Entries can be large-scale figures, planes, AFVs, cars, etc. in plastic, resin, or 3D printed.

2024 didn’t have the follow-on to the “Post-Apocalyptic campaign” so perhaps that can get revived in 2025.

  • I never saw a V-22 or tiltrotor-only campaign.
  • Emergency services campaign (figures and vehicles)
  • Military robot campaign (no “What Ifs” or Sci-Fi) but can be land, sea, and air robots.
  • Cutesy campaign of Anime figures, Toon tanks, fantasy figures, female figures, cute animal kits, and all those miscellaneous kits (no nudity)
  • Superhero campaign (can include their vehicles. You won’t get a campaign ribbon if you just enter Wonder Woman’s Invisible Jet because it is invisible ).
  • Technical pickup campaign (has to include some form of cargo bed armament)
  • ATV and motorcycle campaign (can include civilian and military)
  • Lord of the Rings campaign (Kits can be found on 3D printed websites)
  • Figure bust-only campaign

Sounds good. I’ve got a few Migs and Sukhois I’ve been meaning to.

I know about the Great Ones campaign, as I originally pitched the idea. But this one is different.

Borrowing from Cupcake Sewell’s “Dog Pound,” how about a group build of the same kit? The recent thread about the Italeri Elefant rerelease made me think it might be fun. Everyone starts with the same crappy kit. Let’s define crappy - any pre 1980 kit that has been savaged online by at least two verifiable sources. The Elefant fits the bill prefectly. The rules are simple. You may use any technique or after aftermarket that was available back when the kit first came out. That probably procludes any PE or resin items. Brass that you fashion yourself from shimstock, or any scratchbuilding from products like Evergreen would be acceptable. Obviously no “magic” weathering compounds qualify. Just old school ground pastels, oil paints, and dry brushing.
Make it a contest. Winner by popular vote gets to choose the crappy kit for the next year’s competition.

thinking about the re-release of that old Elephant perhaps a campaign where people build ancient kits or kits that are older than the person building them?
