You must be young…
I think that’s what the Great Ones sort of devolved into. My original intent was to do a Shep Paine style build using old Monogram kit.
However, with everyone building the same crappy kit, we can see how different modelers attack the same known shortcomings. I challenged someone recently to do the same, but he, uh - bowed out.
Ah, I gather there were kits made before you were born. I’m not sure there were any made before I was…
They say 1936 for the first plastic kit. I am sure wooden kits go back further.
The board can still do a Shep Paine style build Campaign using old Monogram kits for 2025 if that’s what’s wanted.
Folks participating in the Great One’s Campaign were younger than the kits they built? Could you elaborate on that?
Depending on the guidelines, I’m up for building a 1973 Vintage Italeri Elefant unless it has to be hairbrushed with Testor’s paint in the 1/4 oz bottle or some equally boring paint brand restriction.
Just an idea, since I haven;t seen that much focuson it.
“RED DRAGON RISING”
a Campaign to showcase armor and aircraft of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army and Air Forces.
There’s plenty of armor and aircraft kits to go through, from COld War era vehciles all the way to modern era vehicles and aircraft.
The Dogpound proposal gave me an idea. How about a “70’s” build? Any kit from the 70’s, no restrictions. I think I can do 2 campaigns a year, in the past I signed up for too many campaigns. Too many campaigns stressed me and I never got many finished. Now I have a ton of Shelf Queens.
70’s kit campaign would be fun. 70’s building and finishing techniques encouraged?
It would be all about dat.
Sounds like fun!
How about something completely different like a Bush Wars campaign? Or Latin and South American, or Asian Armed Forces?
I would like to see a few science fiction friendly campaigns in 2025. (Science Fiction and Alternate History 2025 is a given. Got Hitched is broad enough to include made up stuff but kind of limiting for science fiction subjects.)
A broad scope aircraft friendly campaign would also be nice.
A continuation of those would be good. Had hoped to complete something for this year’s.
I wanted to do something apocalyptic the last time around and never got to it. Why don’t you stand up a proposal for a scifi campaign? I imagine you’d get some sign-ups.
back then i couldn’t afford fancy modelling putty and i used blue tack instead… eeeh by gum, it’s grim up north. lol
Improvisation! I remember using a tin of wood filler I found in a cupboard. Nearly rock hard and didn’t work too well.
Shep Paine used Bondo. So I bought Bondo. Stunk up my grandparents’ house something awful.
Okay. These two campaign ideas are intended to have very open criteria and very broad appeal. Almost everyone here will have something in the stockpile that qualifies.
Death From Above: Build anything that attacks enemies from above. This could be an attack helicopter, combat speeder, dive bomber, dragon, floating tentacle monster, ground attack aircraft, spacecraft reigning down death from orbit, or sub chaser.
Campaign badge is a swooping bird of prey.
Death From Below: Build anything that attacks enemies from below. This could be a flak gun, giant sand worm, graveyard ghoul, ground to air missile system, mole machine, night fighter, sapper, submarine, subterranean monster, or zeppelin buster.
Campaign badge is a ship in the crosshairs of a submarine periscope.
