James has a more then a few items to help dress up the old girl.
The SINCGARS radios look good, but you need the mount to actually put them in a vehicle. A complete set is usually two radios (can be only one) with the mount, which includes one amplifier(box on left side of mount).
Don’t worry -they exist here as well.
I know, but if I get out in the corner here; it’ll be for a good reason, not because I put a picture from a movie.
I had that happen to me as well and was banished and it was one of the best things to happen to me as it increased my modeling time.
That darn expensive postage for us living outside the States is starting to look less and less relevant…
Decided to do something simple to cool down. For you Apocalypse Now fans. Lt. Kilgore’s surfboard CADded. Just for the heck of it
For you nitpickers - of course the markings need to come in a decal or need to be hand-painted. It cannot be depicted in 3D printing.
There’s a display at the Pima Air & Space Museum in Tucson that has that exact same board, next to a UH-1B Huey Gunship.
Pretty nice that they already have decals for it but yikes, $27 after shipping… Sounds like a good candidate for DIY decal sheet if you have a good color laser printer.
WIP. 30 cal. M1919 will be available for 3D printing in 1/35 and bigger scales:
3 USD in 1/35 as shown. 10 USD in 1/16.
Kind regards,
James
One item I’d love to see being built; despite being a bit niche; it’s the CLAMS System.
It was attached to rear of tanks fitted with mine plows and what it did was mark a cleared path for other tanks to follow. Used extensively during the Gulf War, marking safe lanes for Army and Marine units to cross through the “Saddam Line”.
An updated variant of the CLAMS system is included in the M1 ABV.
AEF Designs made one back in the nineties. Most of you know what that means. I’ve thought about scratching one more than once, but now I think that would make an excellent choice for 3D printing. I’d certainly buy one.
I tried to get the bracket printed via Shapeways and a vendor was offering it, but the Shapeways people gave him too much of a hassle to get it printed. So, he cancelled the order on me and I was left short. I harvested the CLAMS box from an old Dragon kit, and I painted it and still have it in my spares box What I’d love to have the complete set, but i can settle with the bracket and the chain/turnbuckles to attach it to the back of my M60A1.
This was the kit I got the CLAMS from, also got the external APU and some other bits from the sprue.
Reynier and Rob,
CLAMS System is totally doable due to its rather simple shape, etc. Let’s put that in the queue for December time frame after I get through some backlog.
Kind regards,
James
