I’ve not had much time to CAD or 3D print lately bc I was running several 1/2 marathons last several months. My next race is San Fran Marathon in July, so I’ll try to get the ones already paid for next month.
Where’s Waldo?
Gotta say running is more addictive than 3D printing.
Easiest habit I have ever given up.
Running to Colpar hobbies!
203mm (8 in) howitzer round in 1/35 CAD done.
For the US M110s and M2 howitzers. AFV Club’s offerings in 1/35 were a bit too short by 1.5mm.
According to my research, the shell’s dimensions were 203mm x 914mm = about 5.8mm x 26.1mm in 1/35 scale. AFV Club’s shells are 5.9mm x 24.6mm.

Another simple diorama accessory.
Wall light in 1/35. Three STLs provided -
I thought of an idea that someone may actually want to install a tiny LED light to my wall lamp 3D print. The hole may be too small (barely 1mm) in 1/35 for the wire to go through but could work in an increased size or a bigger scale like 1/24 or 1/16.
So I made a version with a hole drilled out.

What if there is a remote light source and a fiber optic thread going into your bulb? Model railroaders do this a lot. I have gone up through the train table with a brass tube that gathers a bundle of fibers. These fibers branch off to illuminate N-scale (1/160) car headlights and taillights. A lot of pre wire kits available to make the process easy-peazy
Wow, that’s a great idea! Fiber optic thread would certainly work.
Technology, technology
My latest 3D prints from this past weekend.
This 50 cal mg in 1/16 may be the best print job I’ve gotten in 3 years of doing this stuff. No visible print lines anywhere. I am amazed myself:
The M1919 30 cal in 1/16 came out well, too:
Some newer designs in 1/35:
Colfax? The police must have moved the hookers for the big race. And yes, Colpar’s is always worth the drive. Great selection of references there.
well now that hobby town south is going to be closing soon Colpar is about the only dedicated model option in the area.
There’s one off of Wadsworth as well. Not quite as good, but lots of displayed models.
I brave the Auroa one. I hope that the criminals see me coming out of there and think “look at this nerd he’s not worth robbing”
The marathon event started at 6 am so I’m guessing that’s outside of their hours of operation. Still saw a lot of homeless folks and people high on something on the street corners, which is unfortunately too common in all US major cities..
@brantwoodboy HobbyTown off of N. Academy in the Springs is closing?
Thats what I heard. Rumor is the RC track didn’t pay off and they are open until they are told to close. I think they are going under.
I never even got to visit their new location after they moverd from N. Academy and Woodman. They had a lot of good references as well. S. Academy location pretty much sucks.
Maybe I answered wrong the North location closed around a year ago the owners retired and the south location in going under due to last of business so there will be no model forward shops in Colorado Springs.
Hmmm. I am hoping we can get back to 3D printing discussion instead of Hobbytowns in Colorado.
