my bad ill see my way out
Those guns look awesome.
does anybody make a 1/16th tripod. I’m tempted to get the .50 and just build it on a tripod.
Rob, I knew that you were going to point that out.
Yes, I think we have gone off the tangent enough so I am only suggesting to get back to the main topic without the off-tangent discussion continuing. Such off-topic discussion is fine a couple of times, which I willingly participate but we all know that many forum threads can go to rabbit hole if the hijacking is not stopped.
On the topic of me running half marathons, that was related to how I have not had much time to CAD and 3D print lately. And how running has been more addictive than 3D printing lately for me. I do not think it’s an off-topic. At the same time, this is my thread on 3D printing so I am hoping that we can return to the related discussion.
I am not sure if you have beef against me because your responses to my comments have not been too pleasant often. I’ll email you directly if you are open to clearing things up.
The .50 cal mg is just awesome. You keep on amazing me!
A few years ago I’ve printed one too. Now the barrel is slightly warped.
Maybe I missed it but have you made a MK19 in 16th scale. My desk at work is pretty bare and I think a 16th scale .50 and a Mk19 painted and weathered would be really cool.
Thanks Hans!
Questions - I realize that these 3D printed resin parts can warp over the years because of their chemical composition. For your barrel, was it painted? Was it exposed to a lot of light? Do you think humidity played a role?
You do great work my friend! I am still most impressed by your 1/35 scale antenna toppers. My initial efforts at support structure for the little nubbins showed me just how skilled you are in your efforts.
Love the big scale HMG s, but still wondering about 1/35 scale odd side arms. There is nothing I can find on the most common Ruger 10-22 or the old Beretta CX Storm CX4? All the best!- Stuart
Thank you for thinking on the warping problem. Well, it is painted: primer and topcoat. Yes, it has been exposed to light, but no to direct sunlight. Humidity, I didn’t take in consideration. Must ponder that.
Any chance you will design the doors for the new AK Interactive M1008 without windows? The kit doors are molded in clear with the windows in place. I could send you the clear doors to use as a guide.
Gino,
I just ordered an AK M1008 in 1/35 from EU so I will wait until mine gets here - already thought of several improvement parts that I can CAD including the doors - even for personal use. I do not have the bandwidth to make complex CADs currently due to all the children’s summer activities and family vacations, etc.. August timeframe is what I am looking at for this particular project…
Who knows? Someone at cults3D may beat me to it..
Amos,
You may want to ask this designer on cults3d: All the 3D models of zjjj927・Cults
He has been CADding a lot of small arms in nice details.
Kind regards,
James
Thanks for the response, Hans. That’s helpful to know even though it is unfortunate that the eventual warping of 3D printed barrels seems almost inevitable.
Sounds good. I am not in a rush. Also, I placed the brush guard you made for me a few years ago up against the kit and it needs to be adjusted to fit. It is about 3mm too narrow and 2mm too tall. I adjusted the file and it fits fine now.
That’s helpful info. I figure that I’ll have to redo the design to fit the AK kits..
I’m actually making CX4 now, it is a challenge but is cool design
@Petition2God .50 cal looks great!
Very excited to learn of your planned project for CX4! I understand that the shape must be challenging to model. Even Beretta stopped making them in favor of a stamped metal similar carbine.
