And then this happened!
Quite a few ugly spots to attend to, but this is a major milestone for me

C’mon D, you’re showing us a completely different shell here, you’ve had up your sleeve!
From this side of the monitor it looks awesome! Well done!
Oh yeah, that’s sweet! … Much better than my '57 Chevy Nomad (canary yellow, black top, factory tinted glass, 283-inch, dual carbs and Cragar Mags) “accordion conversion.” In 1968, I was driving my girlfriend and my brother to the drag races at McGuire AFB, NJ when my Nomad got rear-ended at a red light.🪗

D,
Nice progress on that needed trim work.
I sure hope that you were kidding about shooting super fine sand through your air brush under hi psi. For sure you’d damage the needle, cone, and cap, where new ones are required, and there not cheap. I’ve replaced one set on one of my Grex ABs as i wanted to go from .3mm to a .5mm setup.

Heeeyyy baby! Now you’re talkin’! It’s amazing the difference a coat of paint makes, Looks awwwe somme! (White '57 Chevy’s look pretty good too!)

D.
what a difference a coat of primer makes. Man is that beast long. Sure hope that it fit into your paint booth.

Now THIS…is crazy!! Some REALLY good work goin’ on in this thread. WOW!!!
Outstanding, D
Wow, huge thanks for the feedback guys! I really appreciate that you are following my first adventure into major kitbashing here.
The first round of puttying was applied to the rough spots, left a few days, and has been wet sanded out now. Still a few places needing attention, especially the drip rails at either side of the body join, and a couple of scratches on the RH rear door where I slipped trying to rescribe the door line.
Cheers, D
McGuire ! 1968 ! My brother was next door at Dix doing basic about then .
Do I recall correctly from the old site that you lived in Waretown for a bit ? I’m on LBI .
( sorry for the hi jack D )
Cheers -Richard
Very impressive D - obviously a multi talented guy !
Dude, this is looking really good!!
“2-Mad” update time. Body fine tuning continues, almost ready to start the colour coats. Because I’ve got too many projects on the go (as always) and this one is on a time limit for a group build, I’m not going to fit out the back end, just the drivers compartment. Time to play with the clear parts and get some rock star dark tint happening! SMS Clear Black on the inside of the clear parts !
Cheers, D
Here are some WIP shots from other builds in the Group Build, some crazy stuff going on!
55 Nomad cut to a ute then a chopped Cameo top grafted on. Major nose and tail reworks.
55 Nomad conversion to “TowMad”.
55 Nomad Twin Turbo conversion.
57 Bel Air Bubble.
57 Nomad with a Camaro front end and a California top conversion. This one is a friend of mine here in Melbourne.
57 Bel Air with parts from De Soto and Ford.
57 . . . . ummm . . . . something! Replicating and old Matchbox toy.
57 Nomad California
57 Nomad Custom
57 Bel Air Limo
I will post some updates of these builds, plus more, as things progress.
Cheers, D
Would have been nice to see the backend finished but I understand. Still looks great.
Y’all might need to get tested for something. Those look like something from a fever dream or some kind of heavy drug use. Either way the execution is looking great.
Thanks Ryan! I would love to have time to deck out the rear, but not this time around
You’re right about some of the builds, they are waaaaaaaaaaay out there!
Cheers, D
My first thought when I saw that 57 Bel Air limo was that it could have come straight from the ‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit’ movie
D,
The Stretch Nomad Limo looks great in primer Gray with no issues showing in your pics. Looking forward to your update with the color coat.
joel
Yeah…somebody left the glue bottle open and fell asleep with their nose near the bottle opening!! That is indeed some VERY cool and crazy stuff going on right there!!! WOW!!
Progress continues to be looking good with yours D!
Mad, but awesome builds.
