Not quite. The dowty Cowl is the curved ‘door’ below that. What you are pointing to is the housing for the steering linkage for the cowl itself.
Does steering linkage move when the cowl below moves and opens/closes?
Very nice job so far, interesting vehicle.
I’ll hang my head in shame😂
Noted on the nonslip👍
8 posts were split to a new topic: Water jet or not a water jet
Let’s get back to modelling: Jacko, - what colour scheme are you planning for this fascinating vehicle??
Forgot to say, the non slip is usually only applied to the LHS, where the crew climb up to enter the vehicle.
Very nice job Jacko.
Is there a 1/35 scale plastic version of this kit?
I know what I was thinking about now, the M9 ACE that the US used. Similar in appearance but different vehicles. Takom makes one in 1/35 scale.
I bet there are many model builders who would love to see a styrene CET.
Only two choices really mate,
Sand and green BATUS,
But it looks like Black and green as I’m doing 23FD44 which was a frog in 31AES when I was Spt troop corporal.
Funny enough as a Scammell Op the only tracked vehicle I lowered myself to ride on ( despite 4yrs in an Armoured Regt)was one of these😂
Nothing wrong with black and green - the defining colour scheme of a fair chunk of the Brits in the Cold War.
(That said, I’ve hardly done any).
And until I left in 2001 - it was the standard pattern for all British Army vehicles IIRC. I did used to think it wasn’t particularly sexy, it seemed all our NATO counterparts had much more imaginative colour schemes, but the reality was, it was suprisingly effective. Even a Chieftan harboured in a treeline on Soltau in Winter became quite hard to spot actually.
Righto chaps,
The main hull is finished bar any bits I’m sure to have missed,
The bucket to go now and that looks a kit in itself,
Jacko
That’s looking great.
'Love this Jacko - some fine work there.
This is a very cool looking little vehicle and you are doing a fantastic job on it. A really excellent build. Keep up the great work.
