Airfix 1/24 Spitfire Mk IX

Thanks, The detail is there you just have to hang the bits of plastic together. And why a tracer every 6th round?

It was just a joke, I wouldn’t recognise a tracer even if it flew my way. Or I probably would then  !

Painting is now complete on this Airfix 1/24 Spitfire Mk IX. Of course, all the markings seen here are painted too. Next up those pesky decals!

IP looks good to me. Not worth extra money for an aftermarket IP.

This is some of the finest work ive seen on an aircraft build. Absolutely stunning.

Just to re-emphasize this, as I have been very lucky in seeing Mal and his work for real… The markings and how they are painstakingly painted on is just spectacular… They really are superb

I am afraid I will have to do with the decals provided, as I haven’t got the means to create my own masks… I apologize on forehand for that!

After painting the serial number I wasn’t happy with it so I removed it and re-painted it. See the last photo before these 3.

Wow - that’s dedication Mal - looked great to me on the first go round.

The original spacing was wrong.

Definately worth redoing, you know it would have been jumping out at you everytime you looked at the finished build otherwise. It looks far better aligned too.

I’m closing in on the finish line for this. The stencil data decals are on, washes are applied, cordite staining is done and a matt coat is on. So just some more wethering and then adding the dangly bits to do.

This is an amazing looking build. Are there any pics of the completed model?

Hi Graig, welcome.
Thanks, I thought I had posted the finished pics? I’ll have a look around the site.
