Joseph,
The final results is what counts, and those side stripe decals look perfect.
One thing I’ve been doing for the last several years is to apply a final coat of Solvaset to any decals that still needed a little more encouragement to snuggle down into place.

Thanks Joel. I’ve been applying that stuff up until a few days ago and they seemed to have started “behaving” a little better.
With that all being said I managed to get a good block of time handed to me yesterday where the weather was a good temperature and the humidity was very low. Perfect time for that gloss coat.
These pictures are after a day of cure out and this is with no wet sanding or polishing yet. To say that I am well pleased would simply be an understatement.

Joseph,
Your clear gloss finish get an A+ from me. Damn that looks good. And with a proper polishing and then a coat of wax, it’s just going to be simply amazing.

The weather is perfect here for Gloss coating the 917K, but the upright vac died over the weekend, so I had to take it apart, find out if it was fixable, and get it running. Mission accomplished. then I was just about ready to get my act together for gloss coating when my wife reminded me that I had to take her for a pre surgical Cat Scan for her shoulder replacement, and then this afternoon back to the surgeon. Maybe with some luck I’ll get a chance tomorrow. Weds. is my turn at the Cardiologist.
Believe me, getting old and retiring is needed to find the time to get to all these doctors, labs, and hospitals for replacement parts.

Eventually you’ll go to Shapeways for your replacement parts. Take the new 3D printed heart or joint or whatever down to the local Surgeries R Us for installation. Probably go easy on the pre-install weathering tho…

Need to make sure and save for the higher quality material so you don’t have to spend a lot of time sanding the ridges off your heart.

That kind of stuff is the story of my life pal. Minus the medical issues.
Note to all: Don’t EVER tell anyone that you’re an automotive tech. You have people crawling out of the frickin’ wood work to seek advice and to work on their stuff. lol. Can’t seem to get anything done around my house for everybody dropping in on me. lol

I might say the same about carpentry / home repair .
True story - I went to a dermatologist a few years ago for cancer screening. They played the “ see the PA “ for that - ( Physicians Assistant) - second string . When the PA found out my trade most of the visit was spent solving his siding problems. I still had to pay the bill though .

Your guys really crack me up.
As for new body parts or repaired parts, you have no idea of how expensive all of this is. Lets just say you start at the low 5 digits and go from there.

I’ve had that same thing happen to me with cars. I should charge my own “consultation fee”. lol
Yikes!! After my wife’s aneurysm I found out just how quickly medical bills start piling up. Hope everything works out healthwise as well as money wise Joel.
Beautiful paint job Joseph. Chrome work looks nice and sharp.

Joseph,
Thanks for the support. At times it really does feel like an endless money pit with all the money going out way faster then any finds its way into the pit.

The fastback’s paint and decals looks mighty good. Decals can at times be paint to get them to behave and so glad yours finally behaved.

Thanks for all the supportive comments fellas. I’ve been working on odds and ends over the last week or so. Detail painting, painting the PE grille, acquiring yet more details for the interior, painting the headliner and backside of the wheel openings on the inside of the body and trying to put the horse corral and fog lights all together for the grille. Nothing worthy of update pics yet but keeping the progress going.
Keep the faith Joel. This too…shall pass.
Joseph,
Looking forward to your next update with pictures. And thanks for the support. Sometimes life can be a little more tough then usual.
