Armor models/ figures destroyed

Unfortunately, upon coming home from another barbecue last night, I found this:

The casualty list includes these models:
British Chieftain in Berlin Brigade urban camo
Type 95 Ha-Go
BT-7
Israeli Nagmachon
1/72 scale USMC AAVP
Israeli M151

All my figures except for two SF guys, and all my busts were unharmed except for one. At least I can reuse all the bases for future projects.
Miraculously, the glass cabinet did not break at all!
The culprits:

And we are off to another bbq at the in laws tonight so that room will be cordoned off. Jeez

Richard, look at those faces! They’re innocent! It must have been an earthquake or a neighbour’s cat….

Hope the damage just becomes a bunch of small side repair projects rather than a big round filing cabinet project.

100% a dodgy cat trying to break in … those hounds are innocent !!

Hold on dudes…don’t automatically blame a cat ! Though did have a male cat 12-14 years ago…Spike… as he got older and bigger…he tipped the scales at 15-16lbs…if he didn’t like a build of mine…that build could wind up on the floor…lol. That cat’s bro…Buster once chewed parts of a plane kit on my work bench that was drying after washing it off prior to that build. So cats can do damage…granted those dogs look “innocent” I’m just not sure ! Mike

I had builders in the house, I had built a number of figures for a large diorama and, to keep them out of harm’s way, placed them on a table in the attic and locked the attic door. The builders decided they needed to work in the attic and, rather than ask me to unlock the door, cut a section of ceiling out to gain access. You guessed it, directly under the table with the figures on it, which came crashing through the ceiling. Weeks of work wiped out.

Oh man Richard I am so sorry for you. What a huge loss. I hope most are repairable. It must have been a cat.

Unfortunately I had to throw away the armor models I listed- complete and utter destruction.

I know a lot of guys on this site have cats and I’ve heard some of their exploits on the modeling work bench , but this is the nuclear option!

Steven that’s awful, did you pursue litigation? Lol

Sadly, there was a big pile of parts. Every tank was obliterated Matt.
But I will rise from the ashes!
Thankfully my latest builds are in the other cabinet lol.

Those builders did a lot of crazy stuff like this…I had to insist on a lot of free work to make good the damage they did. The architect, who was supposed to be the project manager, said he wouldn’t charge me as the job was so bad. I told him that’s OK , I wasn’t going to pay you anyway.

That’s a damn shame. I feel for you.
6 months ago we had the house re - sided and it never occurred to me beforehand - but I have wall shelves in my shop on an outside wall for my completed builds. You guessed it, the hammers outside propelled some of my best builds straight off the shelf to the floor 6 feet below. I had to bin 4 great ones. Of course, all of the iffy models were totally unaffected.

I think you’re right.

A very localized earthquake hit this room hard.
These dogs couldn’t make this much trouble if they tried.
I think Andy’s or Sprue might be having a sale and that will help you deal with this event.

It’s amazing what some contractors do!

None of my cats has ever attacked a built model, but I have found various pieces of unbuilt models all over the house from time to time. Never chewed up, just not where I left them

Richard - I feel your pain; I have endured similar though not on the scale. My favorite model of a Brit Army Land Rover (actually portraying me on exercise in Germany so a tad egotistical) came to grief a couple of years ago, not due to canine interference but my own stupidity and carelessness. Shattered on the floor. Probably repairable but every time I get it out with that in mind, l just can’t face it!

I’m surprised the culprits weren’t on the menu at the succeeding barbecue!

Good luck.

Did you handle the model after hoisting a few pints?? lol
I was surprisingly calm after discovering the disaster area. (Funny thing is, it’s right next to the front door and none of us saw it at first). I felt more defeated than anything else, actually felt sorry for myself as I cleaned up the mess. Stupid I know. My wife and daughter just stood there with their hands over their mouths- paralyzed by what they were seeing I guess, and saying over and over “omg”. Later on that night they both hugged me and apologized for what happened :joy:

Hmmm…so much for Ikea cabinets! (I’ve got three of the same ones) :worried:

No dog, no cat, no SWMBO. I live alone and when it comes to breakage, I am my own worst enemy. :skull:
